Are you referring to the code sent to you via email, or the verification code from a security app?

3 years agoThis email is generally sent if the Dropbox site is accessed and logged in from an unknown location, or if using a VPN, along with other security detection methods.
Setting the network to public or private shouldn't make any difference when it comes to logging into the site.

I started using Dropbox and logged in without the code many years. 4 weeks ago I logged in in the same location and I was asked if "public" or "private". After I clicked wrong "public" I got this code via email. Now it's not possible to log in without the code in every locations. I'm lost...!- Nancy3 years ago

Do you mind sending over a screenshot of the prompt you receive each time you wish to enter your Dropbox account? Just make sure you’ve hidden your email address, before uploading it here.

here you see my log in screen. First you see the general log in site, second picture is the photo of the security code I get via email. (pictures in German, hopefully it's okay for you).
