Way to stop dropbox disallow people from requesting to join our team?
Is there a way to not give people the option to join our team?
Every time I send a file to someone outside of my dropbox team (which is almost daily) they must get some kind of additional email telling them they can request to join our team, because I usually get a follow up email with random people who got the file asking to be part of my company's team. Is there a way to stop this? Or lock our team from outsiders?

I have the exact same thing. Some people can access the files no problem and others are then asked to join my team at $120 a year. This is not ok and highly frustrating. Looking at moving to Google Drive if this persists.

Very frustrating indeed, and that it sends out a notification to all admins is also frustrating.

Hey SandraKim, thanks for the comment.
This usually happens due to lack of Dropbox space of the people you're sharing files with.
If they can access them as normal, it means they have enough space.
If they don't have enough space and you have a Dropbox Business team, they're prompted to join, so they can have enough space to access the files.
They wouldn't be asked to pay, though, if they're prompted to join your team. Perhaps they're just prompted to upgrade their own accounts.
If you want to share files with them, without affecting their Dropbox quota, you can share files through a shared link instead.

Why does it offer for them to join our team folder though and not create their own or upgrade their own dropbox? Whenever I need to monitor activity and who has access to the files more closely, I invite them directly rather than lose track of who has what link.

Hello!
The "Coworkers can ask to join your team" setting under Admin Console > Settings > Membership can be used to disallow people from requesting to join your team. If that setting is turned off, your team will no longer be presented as an option to request to join to any users outside of your team, so you will no longer get any requests to join your team.

No, this still does not fix the issue. Maddening

Hi nunjabizness , with the setting mentioned above being off, you shouldn't see any new request to join your team. And you should be able to deny any existing request. If this is not working as expected, can you please describe the behavior you are seeing?

I have the same problem. Please fix this.

Hey kaitling2structures, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you please clarify the steps you take to share files with people outside of your team? Also, are you an admin of the team or just a member?
Any additional information will be much appreciated!

I have team files in my team dropbox that are shared directly with people outside my teams emails or shared with them via link. Both ways of sharing result in me getting emails all day with requests from these people outside the team asking to join.
If there is a way to maybe make the team 'private' or something so that it doesn't send out options for them to join the team, that would be great.

Why is this still not fixed Dropbox? You've had a year and this is MOST DEFINITELY a security concern. I've been a huge supporter of this over other cloud storage systems for years, but now I'm thinking of moving our company from this because of this issue.
Request to join team should ONLY be available from the account owner/team side Admin role. Never from the client (outsiders given access to share individual folders with). That's it.
Unacceptable.

Found a solution (I think) to issue on other thread, testing now:
