Disable "Suggested from your activity" permanently
Hi there,
I absolutely hate the feature "Suggested from your activity". I would like to see a checkbox in settings that allows a user to disable that permanently and have the cleanest possible view of file(lists) and folders.
The "Suggested from your activity" feature always shows my family photos or, like today, a preview of my tax form. Whenever I open dropbox in the office to browse my files, all my work colleges can see these previews too. The icon that hides it, is only remembering the setting as long as one does not delete cookies from the browser. At our company, it is policy to delete cookies every day at the end of the day. So this "hiding" setting is pretty useless for me.
More over, please make it possible to have a clean, minimalistic UI without all the fluff, super big blue buttons and "easy access" helpers. Some people don't need it. It is distracting and disturbing.

I feel like Dropbox went in a positive direction for a couple months, and has now introduced the most insane amount of clutter I've ever seen outside of like, a sketchy torrent website. About 15% of screen real estate is dedicated to actually looking at files (until the downloads pop-up takes over), and it's still difficult to do the main thing Dropbox should be for: DOWNLOADING FILES. You can share, copy link, create an automatic slideshow of all your favorite memories with that file, but it's still so hamfisted to just download the darned thing.
But yes, an option to permanently disable "suggested from your activity" (which is hilariously bad at suggestions) would be a good start.

Why would you force a "feature" on users without a Disable mechanism? The presumption that all will want it is clearly inaccurate. FIX IT!

I have to stop using Dropbox because of this "feature". I can't have private stuff popping up on my screen at inappropriate times where anyone else can see it.

I too hate the feature "Suggested from your activity".
I know what I intend to do on Dropbox and this feature is an unneeded annoyance

It's disturbing to me that this idea has been noted by the Dropbox team months ago, there's no pushback on a reason not to disable the feature, yet they're still 'gathering support'. Which really makes me question whether a. there is malicious intent that they are benefitting somehow weirdly from this feature and therefore don't want to remove it, b. they are incapable of programming this feature properly in a timely fashion, or c. simply don't care.
Either way, if it doesn't go soon, I'm out. There are plenty of alternatives.

The suggestions take up way too much space. When you are on the road working from a laptop you can only see a couple of files. Please get rid of these suggestions and/or make the page user modifiable.

I finally made a community account just to post about how bad this "feature" is.
It's incredibly inaccurate (I am rarely trying to find my most commonly access files, those are already in their own tabs!!), wasteful (WHY does it take up over half the screen real estate?!), and leaks PII (the first two are simply annoying but this one puts me in legal jeopardy, thanks Dropbox).
I literally cannot legally open Dropbox because of this. I have to open it while in a private location, then bring my computer back into the office, otherwise tons of sensitive data is plastered all over my screen upon visiting dropbox.com. WORSE than useless. Boggles the mind that this ever passed a QA session. - --amanda--Helpful | Level 5
I agree with estherAL. The lack of response or feedback from the dropbox team is disturbing. It would be nice from the Dropbox team to know how much "gathered support" is needed for them to consider feature development based on user feedback or how much time the "gathering support" phase usually takes before a decision is made.
