You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.
It would be super handy to edit txt files in the preview window that opens when you click a document in your dropbox in the browser. So I can quickly store some text without having the pain of downloading - editing-uploading
Just an idea :)

It's absurd that we can't edit plain text files. Why not simply let Word open them, the way it does with Word docs? What is the problem? 90% of my Dropbox files are text files, and the lack of this feature makes Dropbox almost useless to me.

I just want to pile on and say that, as with everyone else over the past year, I would absolutely love this feature being added to the app and to browser interface.

Yes please, I want that too! I mean we can edit complex Excel files in the browser but we can't paste a phone number into a text file? Cmon...

The ability to natively edit a plain text file within the Dropbox iOS app is a top feature that I've been wanting to see from Dropbox for quite some time. It's not even that hard to implement if they keep the design simple.

Being able to edit text files in the browser would greatly improve the dropbox experience. I edit text files daily and this would make my life easier.

This is so fundamental, it's astonishing Dropbox STILL hasn't implemented this basic feature. So I can save text through this comment, but can't even save text in a basic Dropbox file?

Hi,
I would like to +1 this feature request. I would be happy with the simplest solution. The web in general needs some solution for real text editing, cross-platform, in cloud, native, secure and simple. Dropbox would benefit if could solve. Google Drive don't have it out of the box... Not even any out of the box complete solution. Surprisingly.
