You might see that the Dropbox Community team have been busy working on some major updates to the Community itself! So, here is some info on what’s changed, what’s staying the same and what you can expect from the Dropbox Community overall.

Saving Paper docs to existing Dropbox folder structure/file-system.
Hi
A number of us have started using dropbox paper at work. We want to save documents that we create in paper to an existing Team folder but I can't see how to do this. Any ideas anyone?

+1 for this as well. This was the first thing I tried to do, and it's the only feature that prevents us from using dropbox as a full platform for docs/files.
Seems like you can let the docs be in any folder, and if someone is using it on the desktop, it functions as a link to the browser doc. Obviously future feature would be desktop client for editing.

+1 for integrating Paper documents to existing folders.

OK So I was have the same frustration and until DB gets is S#%@ together here is the workaround....
I integrated the folder which is shared with the team into the Main Project Folder with a link so we could easily go back and forth. Yes this is an extra step and it's dumb but, this is the best I've got. I tried to explain in these pictures.
I hope this makes sense.
I was also able to share with links in docs to other docs with in the paper folder....

I like Paper very much but it has a severe lacking: I do need to keep my documents in my PC other than the cloud, possibly in the same Dropbox foder tree.
I do need to carry with me - even offline - all my contents and Paper doesn't make any difference.
Even BOX.COM offer similar functionality: their Note Box is similar to Paper (more ugly and poor) but they save docs in the same main cloud file systems and the documents you get can be edited locally even offline.
Dropbox its a very good tool that gives convenience and safety to my information, but all my content must stay always with me in my local spaces. That's mandatory for me.
Dont know what other people think or if Dropbox has any roadmap on this.

Hey wmac & Mark M.130 - hope this finds you well.
One thing to note here is this: Paper docs and Paper folders are separate from your other Dropbox files and folders, and cannot be added to regular folders in your Dropbox.
Having said that, I’ll pass this feedback along to our development team to consider for Paper’s future development.
If there's anything else I can do, don't hesitate to let me know and we'll take it from there. Thanks!

Yes, absolutely. Collaborative documents are important - but don't make me think on where i need to go to find them. Dropbox's biggest advantage over Google Drive is that is has a clear, structured file system. It's easy to find stuff - unlike the mess that is Google Drive.
Dropbox don't make me think about "are those in Paper or in a docx file in my FS?"
Please add this feature.

I've been thinking about the fact that you can't have a Paper document together with other documents in a normal folder. Because of this you need to maintain a separate folder strucutre for your Papers and invite people to them separatly.
What do you think about Paper being a sort of a document type instead of a completely separate feature (similar to how you can have both Word docs and Google Docs in a Google Drive folder)? That way you don't have to maintain a separate folder structure for your Papers, and you can share a Paper with other items simply by sharing a folder they are both in.
I can see a problem here with sharing folders as you would need to have separate settings for Paper files and other files perhaps. Opinions?

Please please do this! Come on, Dropbox, you should know better than this.

Tottaly agree.
It would be awesome if DP comes up with something like Notion.so in terms of organizing pages and files.

Agreed with the above. Would love to move team to mainly using dropbox/dropbox paper instead of gsuite.

I also wanted to add, like a few other users here, that I'm attempting to push my workplace to Dropbox, but little missing features like this still keep us using Google Drive.
The Paper UI is really great and is an enjoyable writing experience, so I'm hoping it will become much better integrated into the main DB file system. My dream would be to use Paper offline for docs too! As a web designer the UI feels so much more 'natural' to me than a typical word processor.

I wanted to chime in on this, since I had come to the forum to post about a similar issue. I would definitely use Dropbox for everything if Paper documents were included in the regular DB file structure. For example, in Google Drive, I can right click and hit New Doc/Sheet/etc. right there in any folder.
I like having docs mixed in with my other files because it's so much better organization. If I had a Dropbox folder named Project One, not only could I keep my images/assets there, but my Project One Paper notes right there as well. The separation of main DB folder structure from Paper docs makes things very cumbersome and not very intuitive.
To be honest, I don't really see a need for a separate Paper section at all. Personally I would just like the "Create Paper doc" function available in any folder.

Glad to see this discussion bc I was going a little batty trying to figure out why I couldn't *move* the doc I created in Paper into an existing folder. I tried out Paper for the first time and created a doc to share with my writers critique group and when I tried to place the newly minted document into the group folder I was like... WTH?! Geez, that was a let down.
I guess I'll just do a work-around and export the file, save it and then upload back into our DropBox folder. A very clunky solution at best but I sure as hell don't want to recreate the document.
Pleasepleaseplease make it possible to move Paper docs into existing DropBox folders. I see a ton of potential here. The fact that it remains separate is quite a glitch in the usability of Paper (I love DropBox overall btw--I've been a longtime user... since it was released to the public!) Here's hoping you guys at DropBox can improve Paper's usability by integrating it effectively w/ DB. Oh... and while you're at it please make Deletions and/or Edits to Section Elements more obvious in Papers' design ;). I look forward to an updated release. Once you do that then we'll ALL be in business. Thanks!! - Stijn B.Explorer | Level 4
Just chiming in here with the need to store Paper notes in the Dropbox folder system. I was honestly suprised that this wasn't a possibility from the start, it seems obvious that users want to do this for the simple reason that you want to be able to store every type of content concerning a certain topic in one place. I'm very happy to read that the Dropbox team is actively looking in to this, and hope it will become available in the not too far future. Other than that I still love Dropbox :-) (My whole life seems to be on Dropbox.)
I'd like to add to this that the Paper app can of course continue to exist even when the integration with the Dropbox folders is done. I'm sure that qui some users are almost exclusively using Paper, so for them it would make no sense to have to switch to the Dropbox app.
