Saving Paper docs to existing Dropbox folder structure/file-system.
Hi
A number of us have started using dropbox paper at work. We want to save documents that we create in paper to an existing Team folder but I can't see how to do this. Any ideas anyone?

Just for your information : Dropbox did come trough on this finally and offered a solution. They migrated my Paper account to the new API, and I can now manage Paper documents from my Dropbox folders like new users can.
The only drawback is that my existing Paper docs could not be migrated in any way, they are still available through links that I had to create. The lack of a mass migration solution is what is keeping Dropbox from rolling out the new API to all users still on the old system. So but if you are willing to put up with this inconvenience, don't hesitate to put in a request at Dropbox support to migrate your account manually.
Have a great year end 🙂

I am truly happy for your good fortune. Was this a recent occurence? Did you reach out to Dropbox or did they offer the migration to you unsolicited? Either way I hope the new functionality is serving you well. One more question with regard to your "old" paper docs. Understanding that you may have hundreds of documents, couldn't you just copy and paste each into a "new" paper doc and thereby have them better integrated into the new architecture?

They didn't offer the solution unsolicited, I had to request it and the decision to apply the manual migration needed an approval of dropbox management apparently (which was quick). It was done about a month ago. No it's not possible in any way to copy documents from the old to the new environment, which is the main issue. What you can do of course is create a new doc in the new environment and then copy-past the content of the old into the new doc. But if you have hundreds of documents to migrate that doesn't seem very workable.

So New Paper isn't backwards compatible with Old Paper? 🤦

I don't know any of the technical details, but it would seem that way yes. I wonder if the reason is that the new Paper creates a document of the type ".paper" that is also synched offline, whereas the old Paper I think worked with web pages that were only available online. But again this is just a guess.

And a good guess at that. I realized as I was reading your previous response that I have been out of the "old" Paper ecosystem for so long that I really have no ongoing client collaborations. And hence no pressing need for the "new" Paper.
I'll think about requesting the migration to the new system, but it's no longer important. I've moved by necessity. - slidedesignrHelpful | Level 6
Exactly--same. I had a pressing need to collaborate with clients, so I've already moved on.
I might request the migration just out of curiosity though.

No there isn’t. Dropbox support advised to manually create hyperlinks and add those to the Dropbox. For this workaround to function, all old Paper docs need to be put in folders.

Hi everyone!
The availability of Paper files within the Dropbox folder was implemented with The 2020 Release of Dropbox Paper. The new release of Dropbox Paper will gradually roll out to all Dropbox customers until everyone is updated to the new version.
