When I try to add an attachment from dropbox to a mail in gmail, I receive a message in gmail "can not upload the file". This error occurs only on one smartphone with android 12. If I do the same , with the same dropbox and google account, on an other android phone (android 11 )or an android tablet, there is no problem. Both phones have the same app version of gmailSolved46KViews5likes257CommentsPDF files open as read only on Acrobat Reader (on Android)
I haven't had any problem editing PDF files on my Android tablet until now. I simply opened dropbox, and opened the PDF in Adobe Acrobat from dropbox. Lately, when I open a PDF in Adobe Acrobat from dropbox, I get an error message telling me I can only open the file read-only. This applies to all my files. When I open a PDF directly from Adobe Acrobat, I don't have this problem. I suspect this is related to a recent update of either app.Solved29KViews5likes40CommentsDropbox on Android suddenly unable to open protected Word document
Hello. I've had the same password protected Word doc in my dropbox for years now. On the same Android device I've been using for years as well, I am suddenly unable to open that file. When I try, I get a "File type not supported" error. There is no "open with" option. There used to be one. I have tried reinstalling, wiping cache and data, etc - Dropbox app as well as Office and Word apps. I have tried unlinking and linking Office and Word to Dropbox. On my device as well as on the web. I have tried saving the file to device. There is nothing wrong with the file. I can open it just fine from Dropbox PC. I can also open it on my phone from the Word app. When I try to open a non-protected Word doc, I get a preview. And only then does an "open with" option appear. Solutions desired: Setting Dropbox Android to open Word docs in the Word app by default rather than trying to give me a preview. Also, reinstatement of the "open with" option outside of doc preview. (This has completely disappeared for all my Dropbox files, not just this one.)Solved15KViews2likes30CommentsDropbox and Whatsapp

Hi, I have a free dropbox account and have used it for years to store a few basic excel spreadsheets that I use daily. I have a paid Microsoft 365 account that I use on my android phone and lenovo laptop. For some reason the last few days, I am unable to open my dropbox excel spreadsheets on my phone. When I try to open the spreadsheet I get a log in page saying "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration". I log in using my dropbox user and pw and it just sends me to my onedrive. I have tried deleting the dropbox and 365 apps on my phone and re installing and logging in. I have tried to open the dropbox files by going into excel first and then trying to open the dropbox spreadsheet. Just always sends me to the log in page. It all works fine on my laptop, and after saving, my dropbox android app shows the newly updated spreadsheet. Dont know what has happened. Please help.7.1KViews2likes29Commentsopening a password protected spreadsheet on my Android
An excel file (.docx) was shared with me through dropbox. I WAS able to open it on my android phone. Then, we decided to have it password protected, so the owner added a password. Now, I can't open it on my android. In fact, when I try to open it, it crashes the Dropbox app. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app and the problem persists. What do I do?Solved7KViews0likes8CommentsCan't edit then and SAVE (not save as!) Office documents on Android. Please help.
I'm not a tech guru, but not a complete newbie either. I have the standard free Dropbox (140.4.1951) on my Windows 10 laptop (all automatic updates). Dropbox app on my Samsung S10e (running the latest version 12). Office app (all in one) on my Samsung. I also have (as a test just now), the Word standalone app. TEST 1 I opened the Dropbox app on my phone. I could see all my files. I opened a Word doc using the Office All-In-One app. I made a simple edit. I could not save the edit unless I chose 'Save as'. I didn't want to Save As. I wanted to edit my Word document, save the changes and then open the file on my laptop. TEST 2 I opened the same Word doc using the standalone Word app. I was asked to login to Dropbox to complete the pairing with Word. To my surprise, the edit option was greyed out. TEST 3 I opened the same Word doc using the Office All-In-One app. For some reason the edit option which appeared before is now greyed out. What am I missing? I've searched forums, checked settings, all to no avail. Please help.6.3KViews2likes6CommentsEditor Android apps are NOT saving a Dropbox opened edited file

I can't edit excel files stored on Dropbox from my Android device. instead of saving the edits, a new file gets created every time I save the edited file. this is what happens: 1) I open Dropbox app and navigate to a folder with Excel file ABC.xlsx in it 2) I click (touch!) the file, then it gets opened in Dropbox in preview mode 3) I click the pencil icon at the bottom of Dropbox and it opens a menu with the title "Open with...". I click on Microsoft 365 (Office) 4) The file is opened in Microsoft 365 and I can edit it. I do some editing then click on the save icon (floppy drive icon) 5) a new page opens with the title "Save a copy". Dropbox is not directly listed in places I can save the file in. I have to click on Browse then choose Dropbox and navigate to the folder where the original file is stored. 6) I save it with the same original name ABC.xlsx. (technically I'm asking the app to overwrite the original file) 7) instead of overwriting the file, a new file named ABC_19RandomNumbers.xlsx is created. all my edits are save in this new file. the original ABC.xlsx is intact after that, I get 3 notifications from Dropbox a) Changes saved. (1 file saved) b) Upload failed: ABC_19RandomNumbers.xlsx (tap for details) c) Upload complete (1 file added) Specs: Android 10, Microsoft 365 (Office) 16.0.16130.20188 (Feb 22, 2023), Dropbox 318.2.2 (Feb 28, 2023) I have a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription and Dropbox basic free plan Thanks in advance for your help!Solved5.8KViews0likes6CommentsGetting an error when editing a Word file via Android app
In using the Dropbox android app, every time I edit a doc with word and attempt to save, I get a message which recycles endlessly, 'looking for 365 account.' And then there are 3 pages of adds for Microsoft 365. I have a 365 account, but it is not recognized. I can work around this, but it is a pain.2.6KViews0likes22Comments
