Hi, I have a Backup set up for a PC that no longer exists. I cannot delete the backup. The help says to login, goto settings-security tab, select the device to log it out, so the backup can be deleted. The device does not exist in my list. The instructions make sense but there appears to be something wrong. If there is nothing wrong with what I am doing how do you contact support to get it fixed? I currently have a Dropbox account with the free basic plan. For a few days I have been receiving notifications because the storage space has run out. In truth my uploads are only 250Mb in size. I remember that last week, by mistake, I started the backup of a GARMIN device which failed. However, the files loaded during this backup have filled the available space. Now I would like to delete all those GARMIN files but I cannot select and delete them because the folder is not visible and selectable. The only way to see those files is in the "recent" view. Please can someone help me?Solved917Views0likes3CommentsMy Desktop folder has been removed from my Mac, after losing access to my work Dropbox account.
Hi, So this is what has happened. I had access to Dropbox via my work account on my laptop (Macbook). Yesterday that access was taken away as I had resigned and so naturally I no longer had access. After that, all of my desktop folder is gone. I can't find it in hidden files or anything. How can I recover this? All of my personal documents, certificates, and everything were stored in it. I really need access to the 'Desktop' folder. I don't understand how they got linked as I have downloads still but specifically this one is gone. Now a shortcut is created on the desktop saying 'my files in Dropbox' which opens to 'the operation can't be completed because the original item for My Files in Dropbox can't be found. Please help me. I'm in urgent need368Views0likes5CommentsRemove Dropbox Backup for my entire macOS machine.
After receiving the unwanted prompt during setup of Dropbox "Do you want to backup your entire computer," I accidentally hit the yes button, and had to wait while all my files were moved to a Dropbox folder. I do not want them there. I cannot find out how to undo this. Help would be appreciated. Mac Mini OS Big Sur2.2KViews0likes15CommentsHow can I cancel my computer backup?
I apparently selected pc backup when I installed Dropbox and naturally I'm out of storage on my Dropbox account now. I don't want and have no need to have my pc backed up to it. I have the desktop app but am not able to find the preferences section to stop it from backing up. I did try just deleting My PC from Dropbox but a message comes up and says if I delete "My PC" it says it will be removed from my Dropbox and from the computer. If I delete it in Dropbox, does that mean I'll lose everything on my laptop too? Sorry if it sounds like a newbie question but I am. 🙂 Any help stopping the PC backup would be greatly appreciated.Solved23KViews2likes58CommentsHow do I delete Backups in Dropbox?
Hello, I've been trying to find out what is taking space in my Dropbox. When I go to Manage account it says I have 11.8 GBs of Backups out of 15 GB. However I cannot actually find out what backup this is nor delete it. All the steps I've checked on the site talks about installing a Desktop App then going to Sync and Backup. However there's no such thing. I'm using the latest Dropbox app downloaded from Dropbox website and running on Windows 11. Also if I go to Dropbox app in the taskbar and then click on my account name then go to Preferences there's an option for the tab called Backups. However this tab opens up just the folders however I've not selected any folders to be backed up. There's no way to actually delete backups. I've tried unlinking all devices from my account, deleting all files in the directories and still there's this 11GB just missing. Why can't Dropbox app just show what is taking the space and have an option to delete it?Solved5.7KViews4likes17CommentsMy computer backup files went missing after our Business team account was closed
As per support ticket #23762350(opened 19 May, no answer for 3 weeks), my MacBook Pro desktop, documents and downloads folders were wiped and made inaccessible when my employer moved to close our business account. None of my colleagues (some on the same iOS and seemingly with the same sync settings) encountered this issue. I understand our files are supposed to be stored for 90 days as a failsafe but since I cannot log back into my defunct work profile to alter or reset any strange sync settings I am stuck as to how to recover these files or at the very least recover functionality of my essential folders. Since a quick search of the forum suggests this is a common bug I'm baffled that the Support Desk deem fit to leave this issue on 'being investigated' status for going on two months. ANY advice from the community or a Dropbox engineer would be hugely appreciated since I have not only lost several years worth of important professional and personal files but also cannot use my computer as normal. Hi, I made a mistake in unlinking a device that had a backup on my Dropbox before I had signed out of it. This seems to mean that I cannot delete anything from that backup file in Dropbox - even though I can view most files. My Dropbox is full, and I would like to clean out a lot of things from that backup of an old computer that I no longer have access to. How can I do it?1.9KViews0likes12CommentsAfter connecting my external drive to Dropbox, my files were deleted!
Not sure if this is the right category but I'm hoping you can help. Our Dropbox was at its limit so I moved a bunch of files to an external drive to use for overflow storage. It seems I logged into my online Dropbox with the drive plugged in and Dropbox did a sync and now my drive files are identical to the ones online ALL my overflow files are GONE. Is there a way to restore them?? I looked in Deleted files and there is nothing there... Thanks.643Views0likes5CommentsI'm getting a deletion warning on the desktop app, after setting up Dropbox Backup
I elected to use Dropbox Back up. In the process of getting my files uploaded I received the following message": Remove "Ortiz, Vicente y Mariana Zavala Informacion Matrimonial, pg 3.jpg" and 736 other items from your Dropbox account and all devices? If you move these items to "Downloads", they won't be available in Dropbox or on any devices. Then it offers the options 1. Cancel and 2. Move out of Dropbox. What does this mean???? Will I be losing these files? It sounds to me that either choice means that I will never see these files again.379Views0likes1Comment
