I am needing to provide a place for a couple of videographers to upload files to my Dropbox so I can include them in my edits. When I created a shared file and sent it to them, they respond that they are asked to create a Dropbox account of their own to access my link. I just need them to upload their video files to my account - they don't need to have their own Dropbox accounts. Is there a way around this requirement to create accounts for these non-Dropbox users to access a shared directory?23Views1like1CommentCan't create MS Word docs in Dropbox anymore
I'm a long-term user of Dropbox and I love it's use ability and function. To my dismay, in the past year or so I seem to have lost the ability to create Microsoft Word documents in Dropbox. This is a feature I used regularly, and now it seems to be a long and clumsy process. Let me explain how it used to work and now doesn't. I would go into Dropbox on my Android phone, Select the folder I wanted to create the Microsoft Word document in and then Select the "Plus Symbol" found in the blue circle :blue_circle: found floating on lower right hand corner (that option is still there) after selecting the Plus Sign we are presented with an option to "Create or upload file" After selecting that option, I would be presented with a drop-down list of files I could create. These would include the 3 native Dropbox options of "Paper" "Text File" & 'Upload Files" as well as a list of Microsoft file types, which included MS Word & Excel and maybe PowerPoint. I would then select MS Word, and a MS Word document would be created and MS Word App would be seamlessly be activated and away I would go, creating content and saving it safely in Dropbox. Happy days! Now unfortunately when I select "Create or upload file" only the 3 native Dropbox options appear, no longer can I select a Microsoft Document type. I'm not sure why this change has occurred, and there is a work around I've found, but it's clumsy and time consuming and certainly doesn't have the elegance of what I was used to with seamless integration and function. My question is, how can I get the elegant integrated "create" MS Word option/ solution in Dropbox back, I don't want a clumsy work around.490Views0likes7CommentsFile Request from "Create" menu no longer working
Creating a file request through "Create" menu in the destination folder on the website no longer creates a file request with the destination folder auto populated. Instead, it just brings me to the File Request section and forces me to set it up manually. Was this change intentional? Can this be fixed ASAP?86Views0likes1CommentHow can I copy all the files I've currently saved on Dropbox to a new account?
Hello We've been using Dropbox as a family since 2004, so twenty years. We've both had full access but it is in my husband's name. He has decided to end our marriage, so I would need to ensure that I can retain access to all of our photos. I guess that means I need to create my own account? If I do this, how do I duplicate the entire contents of our current account? Thanks in advance170Views0likes1CommentIs it possible to create a doc that can be signed more than one employee?
Heya, I want to create a document for logging that will track some logs of our employees and we would want all the signatures to be on one document. Basically, when someone gets checked we send the doc to them for signature. After they are done, we want to use the same one (with the first employee signature there) to employee 2 who can sign in when they have been checked too. Now, i know there is an option in dropbox to do something similar but for that you need to know all the details of the people who need to sign so the doc will be shared with them once person 1 has signed it. However, we cant use that as we mostly pass this document when someone new joins the company. Which means if person 1 signs, it might be a week or a month before person 2 needs to sign (as that is when they join us). Is there a way to do so? Keep the same doc someone has signed for me to pass to the next person whenever they join or are needed to sign?186Views0likes2Comments"You need permission to perform this action" each time I'm creating a folder.
I have searched through the forum for a solution but have yet to find one. I am using the desktop and trying to create a folder and keep getting the error, "destination folder access denied" "you need permission to perform this action". I have unchecked "read only" in the properties and it re-checks "read only" as soon as I go back to try to create a folder. I am the owner, administrator etc of this computer and I pay for a drop box plan. I recently got a new computer and have had this issue ever since! I should not have to log into dropbox online every time I want to create a folder. I am running windows 11. I have ensured that I have the proper permissions checked. I do not know what else I can do at this point. Please help, as this is affecting my day to day business.1.5KViews0likes9CommentsIssues with creating new folders on the mobile app and missing a 'select all' option when uploading
DropBox I don’t understand how in 2024 app developers make users do so many unnecessary tasks, clicks, and repetitive stuff. Here are 2 examples of how DropBox users have to do frustrating stuff: 1) Creating a New Folder • After tapping on the “+ Folder” button, the folder name automatically defaults to “New Folder” and it’s not highlighted. So users have to click the “X” to clear the default folder name or click and press the backspace/delete 10 times to finally input the desired folder name. No one on the planet will ever have numerous folders named “New Folder”. I can understand how a user would need rapid folder addition and no time to input a name so why not just have the default folder name highlighted so users can simply start typing a folder name versus being forced into clicking on the “X” or manually deleting the letters 10 times. 2) Uploading Photos from a Specific Album and there’s No Option For “SELECT ALL”!!! • this by far is the most annoying issue I have with DropBox. Why a company as big as DropBox can’t get this done is absolutely absurd. So I want to upload 150 pictures in a specific photo album; I click “Upload Photos”, navigate to the desired album, and now I have to either individually select allllll 150+ (up to 400) or press and hold the first photo and then scroll (while still pressing) until every single photo is selected. WHY IS THERE NOT A “SELECT ALL” FEATURE? Users are smart enough (through app restrictions like maximum 400 upload limit) to have albums with just 400 photos so we can have some sense of quickness in a restricted/limited filled app. There’s no reason why users have to spend so much time on repetitive tasks in this day and age. Both issues stated I’m sure DropBox is thinking “oh this user is just an angry idiot,” no, you should try doing all the stupid repetitive stuff mentioned here while having Parkinson’s Disease, a Muscular Skeletal Disease and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. But even if I didn’t have any of these diseases, I’d still be aggravated by the numerous repetitive and unnecessary stuff in the DropBox app. Being a retired IT Programmer and Engineer, I can’t believe that no one has the initiative to enhance the functionality of the DropBox app and being former Military Special Ops, some stuff I don’t have the patience to deal with anymore. This is the 3rd time in 10 years that I’ve brought this same crap up to your technical team; I’ll be looking at other companies and closing my account within the next month.244Views0likes2Comments
