Dropbox Backup

Hi I was looking for my documents on my mac desktop and it has somehow now been linked directly to Dropbox, not my documents on my desktop mac. I cannot find any of my documents that were on my computer. In checking dropbox.com, some of the documents / folder are in Backup on dropbox for my previous Mac, but I need to stop Dropbox taking over my document folder on my current mac, and get back the docs that were happily there just a week ago. Any suggestions? thanks Jon133Views0likes1CommentCannot completely disable Dropbox Backup for an USB drive.
I plugged in a USB drive and got an annoying prompt about backing it up. I've never used the Dropbox Backup feature and don't want to, especially not for a drive I'm using itself as a backup. I turned off autoplay completely for now in my Windows settings, but I shouldn't have to do that in order not to use Dropbox Backup. The help page for this is out of date and describes a setting that doesn't exist. There appears to be no way whatsoever to disable backups. So, short of nuking Dropbox completely and moving on to something else for cloud storage, how do I disable the annoying backup feature?Solved1.3KViews0likes15Comments"Adjust Bandwidth limits" button in the Dropbox Backup menu [Advanced Settings] does not work.
My Dropbox Backup process has started, and is painfully slow. 8 hours and it hasn't uploaded 150 GB yet. So, I want to increase the upload bandwidth - however, the menu where these settings are found will not open. I click the button, and nothing happens. Does anyone have a solution? Hello, So I created a backup which seems to be working find except it also keeps backing up newly created files in the parent directory. What I want to Backup: F:\Photos What it backs up: F:\Photos F:\ Any new files that are created in F:\ (after the creation date of my backup) are also being backed up. It does not backup existing files in F:\, which it shouldn't. But it does backup newly created files in F:\, which it should't. It should only backupF:\Photos. Which is the folder that I selected in my backup. Any idea what's going on?278Views0likes4CommentsAuto Backup on Windows 10
Hopefully this is the correct forum for this question. I am now a PLUS user. My Drop box has a local folder on my C: drive & a copy on the Drop box on-line so I can access my files from phone or tablet at any time & grant access to client of mine. My working files are on a sub folder on my C: drive & I just copied & pasted the folders to my Drop box using Windows 10 file explorer. Now I want to make the C: drive working folder(s) to automatically backup/sync to Drop box for others with a share link to get the latest files. Do I need to use Sync or Backup from the Web version of Drop box & how? I tried using the Fire Fox web browser, selecting the folder I want to automate but the Automate has no options to backup or sync.Solved377Views0likes5CommentsHow do I select specific folders for automatic backup?
This sounds like such a simple thing but I cannot figure out how to choose specific folders to automatically backup. When I get to the backup folder selection menu in the dropbox app I have half a dozen high level choices like "Desktop", "Downloads", and "Videos" to choose from but I don't want to automatically backup any of those, I want to backup specific folders like "C:\cygwin64\home\foo\bar" - how do I tell the app to do that? I'm on a Windows 11 PC.Solved3.2KViews1like6CommentsMy laptop doesn't show up in my connected devices list, even though it's syncing files
Having trouble with dropbox not seeing a device. As in, if you go to settings and then click Security - you scroll down and it shows your device list and the devices that have been removed from list. Details: -- I can have 3 active devices, presently shows only 2 listed -- Have ended all dropbox tasks multiple times, have restarted laptop -- Have quit dropbox in taskbar tray -- Have reinstalled dropbox multiple times -- I know dropbox is working with this particular laptop bc I've created "test" documents and saved them on laptop local dropbox file explorer - which then sync up to online files immediately Because dropbox isn't seeing this laptop, I can't use backups. When I try to created a backup, it shows my old PC as the only option for the backup -- I can't choose my laptop bc it doesn't see it. Any ideas?4KViews0likes37Comments
