Dropbox Backup
1033 TopicsCan we have more folder options like custom folders or sub-folders to add to Computer Backup?
Right now, the automated backup option in Dropbox allows me to sync my Documents, Desktop and Downloads folders. By far the biggest - and most important - folder on my computer is the Music folder though. I can imagine for other people it's Pictures. Could we have a way to automatically backup those folders too? To be really ambitious: would we be able to clone our computer on Dropbox? I used to have an Apple Time Machine that allowed you to do just that. If your computer broke down or was stolen, you could buy a new one, let it download the clone, including not just your documents but your applications and presets too, and you'd be good to go! Please let Dropbox be the new Time Machine.74KViews239likes159CommentsIncorrect dropbox space usage on windows
Hi Guys, My local Windows Dropbox is fully synced with my online Dropbox. Windows Explorer file/properties shows my Dropbox folder is 576 MB but to my surprise, dropbox.com and dropbox app both say my dropbox is full. I have checked the plan tab and found my regular file size is 3.4 GB which is not correct. My shared folder only takes less than 100 MB. What is going on here? Why the discrepancy? Any inputs? Thanks, TaoSolved62KViews3likes675CommentsHow to remove desktop from dropbox
Somehow, all links on my laptop Desktop were copied to a Dropbox folder called "Desktop"; if I did it, it was accidental I don't know why I need that and when I delete the Desktop folder in Dropbox, all the icons disappear from the computer desktop. I assume some kind of sync issue. What I am doing wrong? I only use Dropbox for sharing files so this is a new problem for me. Hello, My goal was to use dropbox to backup the stuff on my computer, but need more clarification on how the syncing works. I'll list my questions below: 1. Can I upload a folder from my computer to dropbox, and then delete the folder from my computer without it also be deleted from dropbox? My goal is to use dropbox as a backup. 2. If folders are syncing between my computer and dropbox, and my laptop were to crash, would I lose all of the content in dropbox? 3. Is it possible to save content from my computer on dropbox without syncing, and still have it be visible on the dropbox on my computer? Thanks in advance!Solved24KViews4likes10CommentsHidden .dropbox_bi folder storing 87GB of files locally!
Hi, I've just recently set up a new Dropbox Professional account. After installing the desktop app on my Mac I also set up a backup of my external SSD, which completed successfully yesterday. Standard Dropbox file sync seems to be working fine, and the Dropbox app says everything is up to date, but for some reason I now have a new hidden folder under my Mac user folder called.dropbox_bi. That folder is storing 87GB of files on my primary SSD, apparently related to the 220GB of data backed up from the external SSD. Is this my life now? Or is there some way to recover that massive waste of precious primary SSD storage space?Solved22KViews1like90CommentsBe able to change Dropbox backup folders names
Add possibility of rename Backup folders. If you have only one computer, it go fine, but if you have more than one, it ends being very confussing. Due iCloud Drive issues, I've changed all of my Macs "synchronized" Desktop and Documents to Dropbox. However, take a look to the picture: It is very difficult to guess what is what. With the possibility to rename them, I could have named "My iMac", "My MBP 13", "My MBP 15". Very easy to see what is what. (As a workaround, we can change to detail view, but could be more easy for all of us be able to change the names).21KViews82likes83CommentsAirDrop broken on MacOS Ventura
I'm using MacOS Ventura and I can't receive files via AirDrop anymore. My Downloads folder is inside my Dropbox as I'm using Dropbox Backup, so it is all inside the Cloud Library now. The Spotlight Search is broken and now also I can't receive airdropped files anymore. They are sending but afterwards they are just nowhere to be found on the hard-drive. It's quite the mess. @DropboxTeam: It would be highly appreciated if you can expedite looking into resolving the issues on Ventura!Solved19KViews16likes98CommentsFiles not syncing in Window explorer
Hi, I can't seem to get File Explorer to sync. It used to sync automatically but now it is not. I've logged onto the Dropbox page and tried to download the app and that doesn't seem to do anything. I have created a folder on drop box app for my upcoming holidays called "2022 Trip." When I log onto my computer (using windows) I can't find it in my file explorer. They seem to be out of sync. I've read the forums about syncing but I can't see a sync function or menu or button to do this. I've logged onto the drop box web page and tried to find it in settings but can't. I am on the basic free access and still have space. Please help. I'm not very computer savy and I've read through all the community pages but can't see my problem listed.Solved19KViews0likes15CommentsCan't open the Dropbox desktop application on Mac OS 13.4
Upgrade my Macbook Pro from 2018 to a new 2023 Macbook Pro M2. Installed the latest version of DB,, and the app crashes after a few minutes. However, I installed anolder Intel version and it r,uns without crashing. I am a paying customer of DB. Tried running the adv reinstall (https://help.dropbox.com/installs/advanced-reinstall), and it installed the Intel version. Which is seems stable. Ideally, I would like to run DB natively. Open to suggestions and ideas. OS: Apple Ventura 13.4 M2 ProcSolved19KViews0likes76Comments
