Dropbox Family
14 TopicsMenu bar icon not appearing
I used to be a Basic member but am now a member of a Family Plan. I am not able to get the Dropbox icon on my menu bar on a new Mac - Monterey 12.01. I have quit and trashed the application and have reinstalled a couple of times, but nothing. I can't for the life of me get the icon on my Menu Bar. Does the Menu Bar have a space limitation? I would think not. Any help out there?Solved13KViews0likes20CommentsDon't see online only option in the context menu
We have a paid subscription for Dropbox Family, and for any folder (inside or outside the Family Room), do not see an option for either a file or folder to make Online Only. Running Windows 10. Screenshot of my right click on a folder: I've also gone online as well, and don't have that option. FYI, it's not a payment issue - I can see the option for mobile, just not the desktop version.1.7KViews0likes13CommentsM1 Mac OS X Ventura turned off online files only and extension still cannot access files on Mac
I have an M1 Mac running Ventura 13.3.1, Dropbox on computer is v173.4.6706. I have been having issues opening desktop files and in other folders (documents and downloads) that were using the "online only" file option. I turned off online only files and the Dropbox system extension. It has been over an hour and I still cannot access the files and when I right click on these files it says the location is Dropbox/My Mac. Bottom line I do not want to use online only files and I want the files back on my Mac. How do I do this? Another issue the Dropbox app is taking forever to launch if ever, and it has recently failed launching (error msg text below). Hi community, does adding folders from my dropbox to the Finder Sidebar cause problems nowadays? I am afraid to try and I am asking because two or three years ago I had the following problem: folders from my dropbox, which I added to the Finder Sidebar were working correctly (synching, etc.) for a few hours or days and then, without warning or notification about it, they were just copies of the dropbox folders, located deep in my macOS Library and not inside the dropboy anymore, which caused that they didn't synch anymore. So basically I got duplicate folders, one online in the dropbox synching and one offline on my Mac's internal drive in the Library not synching (the one in the Sidebar). It took me a while to find out and the damage was already done (a lot of duplicates and some lost data because of no synching, etc.). I also got the feeling that dropbox in general behaved a little weird after that, especially in regards to "online-only" und "make available offline" behavious. But a few months later there was a big change in the way Dropbox was integrated into macOS, the location of the main Dropbox folder changed from Documents to Locations – and after that the weird bahaviour stopped. But I never tried again to add folders from my Dropbox to the Finder Sidebar, because I was too afraid it would mess things up again. But now I really need that again for my workflow, but still I'm afraid to try. Sorry for the maybe too detailed description. Thanks in advance.1KViews0likes1CommentDropbox stuck on indexing files
My dropbox has been stuck on indexing for more than two days now. While for some time the indexing file count slowly decreased, it has now been stuck at a constant number -- 27,835, for almost a day. This entire saga of course has been triggered by having switched to the new Dropbox filing method about three days ago. Currently, my Dropbox folder is located at ~/Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox Here is my system environment: macOS Ventura 13.5 Beta (22G5038d), on an intel iMac (27" 5K Retina Display 2017 model) Dropbox v176.4.5108 (Family plan) The app was creating no problems prior to migrating to the new filing method. I have already fixed hardlinks and fixed permissions, as advised on other similar threads. This has not solved the problem. Please advise urgently.978Views0likes2CommentsReunion - syncing iMac to iPad

So, I've noticed that Dropbox is continually sending between 6 and 8 Mb/s (or 0.6 to 1 MB/s), not an inconsiderable amount of data, around the clock. It certainly adds up. (Not receiving very much back.) I find this curious, since I haven't uploaded anything new today on any device, and there's no recent activity shown in the app. So what is it doing? Is it spying on me in some way? I haven't configured any kind of synchronization on this computer. Not photos, not backups, not documents, nothing. All it has is whatever I put in the Dropbox folder.588Views0likes1Comment
