I have 2 accounts and want to use the email linked to the one on the second
I currently have 2 Dropbox accounts, one is the freebie and the other is Dropbox Plus. I want to remove the freebie account and just have Dropbox Plus. However, I want to assign my main email address to the Plus account, but its currently linked to the freebie account. How can I do this?
Exclude files by pattern from being removed locally by the file handler
Hi, I'm using the Zettlr "project" feature a lot. Project configuration is stored in ".ztr-directory" files, who need to stay available on the local file system. Thus I want to exclude them by pattern from being removed locally once and for all. Chat support right now stated that it can't be done. But excluding files by pattern, instead of browsing with finder through the filesystem and doing it by hand for every single one, is such a basic functionality, I just can't believe that it can't be done. Any suggestions? Mela
Dropbox no longer linking to both business and personal accounts (Mac)
Hi all, I'm stuck in a loop here. Last week perhaps there was a Dropbox update (?) and now I can only have my personal Dropbox Plus account OR my business account linked to my machine. When I try to link the other, I go through a loop of: "Would you like to connect the computer XXX to your Dropbox account?" -> YES -> Dropbox app restarts -> Account is still not linked. I'm not using the new File Provider option yet. I've gone into my accounts and manually unlinked all my devices, and no luck. How do I get out of this loop? I had a personal account linked to email A. I was invited to a team from my work and I decided to keep both accounts separated, so when the option was given I choose to create a new account using email B, which is my work email. Now all my personal stuff is linked to the account of email B, instead of the other way around, and my email A is now linked to my job's team. I tried to abandon the team, but seems that only admins can remove someone from a team (!!). How can I solve this situation? This is critical, I have years of very important stuff in my personal account. My personal account was plus and the account from my organisation is business.
Transfer Dropbox Backup to New Mac
I recently bought a new Mac and used the Apple Migration Assistant to transfer all of my data from my old machine to my new one. This included the Dropbox folder and everything else. The migration went smoothly (in the past I have had issues migrating the Dropbox folder) and now I have all of my files on my new machine exactly as they appeared before. I used Dropbox Backup on my old machine, and so the Music, Movies and Pictures folders are stored inside the hidden folder titled "Mac" in the main Dropbox folder, and their original location is replaced with an alias. I now would like to set up Dropbox Backup on my new machine to backup these folders exactly like it did on my old one. However, when I go into Dropbox preferences, it asks if I would like to backup my Mac and shows all of the unticked options for folders to backup. I was wondering what the best way to setup Dropbox Backup on my new computer would be? Do I have to delete the backup, move the folders back into their original location and create a new backup? Or is there a way of telling Dropbox that this machine should inherit the backup of my old machine? I am still currently in possession of my old machine so I can access things from there if necessary. I thought it would be best to wait and hear the correct way of doing this, since I have tried in the past to fix things very quickly myself making the situation worse, as I have seen other people with similar stories do.
