Hello! I have shared files with 2 members and gave them editing access. They can open dropbox on their end and see the file but cannot edit. One user was able to open a file in another window and make edits but they did not appear in the shared file. We have a family plan if that matters. I have a PDF I'm trying to share out, view only, to everyone who has the link. I have it set to View only. I have the folder set to View only. But when I share the link, the full PDF edit tools are avaiable and anyone can edit (or write all over) the PDF. This seems to be a Dropbox error. Here's the file — see for yourself. [Removed as per Community Guidelines] Any ideas how to shut off edit capabilities? Needless to say, I'm testing this logged out and in an incognito browser. Hello, I mistakenly submitted an uncomplete link [removed soas to protect the daily limit for data sharing] for a startup incubator. I cannot edit my submission. Would you know if I can make it work for anybody having the link? Sincerely, Florian132Views0likes1CommentJPG images uploading from my iPhone 11 to Dropbox as PDFs
All of my JPG images in Dropbox on my laptop have converted to PDFs and are uploading as PDFs from my phone. On the Dropbox app on my phone the images are still JPGs. Can anyone tell me the setting to convert everything back and have my uploads remain in JPG format? Adobe won't even let me open the PDFS saying I have to upgrade to Pro!164Views0likes1CommentGetting an error when I access a shared file that has been edited by a team member
After my other team member opens and edits a file -- I will go into the same file and get this error message "We found a problem with some content in 'filename.xlsx'. Do you want us to try to recover as much as we can? If you trust the source of this workbook, click Yes. The only way to recover this file is to go onto the web and clip recover file. I am also running into the problem where all the snipped images from the other team member show up as 'UNKNOWN!' on my end when I open the file. I am having a hard time getting a hold of anyone from dropbox that can help.295Views0likes5CommentsHaving notes available to each file uploaded to the account.
As a content creator, I frequently collect video clips and photos to demonstrate examples of my discussions. However it may be weeks, or even several months before I am ready to use those files. There is no way for me to remember the source, the circumstances, the story and/or details around those files. Rather than creating very lengthy names for these items to describe them, I'd love a way to add a note when they are saved. It would be very helpful to also have a note feature available for my subfolders for the same reason. Thanks for listening!374Views0likes2CommentsDropbox pulling incomplete excel documents
Hello, One of my employees are having an issue with their laptop concerning excel and Dropbox. We use Dropbox for our field technicians to pull excel spreadsheets to complete a daily report. This spread sheet is a template that they add their data into, and then save to another folder within their Dropbox. They've contacted me that sometimes, while trying to open the spreadsheet, only half of the document is filled, the last couple columns of the sheet are missing entirely. I did look at their saved versions of the sheet, and some of them are missing data as he states. They do work in a remote area and I know their signal is spotty at best so I figured it was just data lost from the poor reception. I pulled up the exact form from my work internet and the spreadsheet was complete. He insists that it is an issue with the computer, but I tested it on the exact computer he's complaining about when he brought it back. Am I correct on my assumption that the cause is just a faulty internet connection? Or could it be cause by an underlying issue, be it with the computer or Dropbox itself?Solved1.4KViews0likes3CommentsOne user can't update files in a shared folder, why?
I have a folder that I’ve shared with 16 persons. All of them have edit permission and all can read. BUT one of the members cannot update the file. I can see that he accesses the file and it is stated that he has updated the file but his result is not saved. What can be the problem? We are using Dropbox on Windows, desktop.484Views0likes1CommentA user's desktop app creates conflicted copies, whenever other team members create new files
We have a certain team member that whenever their laptop is turned on and dropbox is running. ANY new files created by any OTHER members of our team will become conflicted by the Laptop users account. We have tried uninstalling norton from their laptop and tried to ensure that all cloud storage options are logged out of on their laptop. For years we all worked out of dropbox with our accounts with no issue, between windows and mac machines. But since they got their new laptop back in october it has been a constant headache. I believe there may be some permission or app or setting that is causing any new file we make on dropbox, to be "accessed" by their machine for some reason or another. Wether it be virus scanning, One drive, or something else. The issue is. I've made sure all of those services are off. Thoughts? Has anyone experienced this?1.2KViews0likes6Comments
