File access
50 TopicsMy Dropbox wasn't syncing - are all my files gone?
My account was closed in mid sept. I had 2TB and not 5GB. I thought my local dropbox on my computer was synced but it appears it was not (only 80gb was). I wonder now if all my files are gone in dropbox? Can I reinstate for just one month? Really unfortunate. I have been trying to find a contact for dropbox support but it seems I need to pay for it.184Views0likes1CommentIs there a way to recover files from a link created by someone who has passed away?
I doubt very much that there is but, is there any way to access a Drop Box account of someone that has recently died without a password? 2 years ago, my sister-in-law took many photo's at my son's wedding and later shared them in a link to a Drop Box account. Unfortunately, no one could access the link and she didn't get around to fixing it before passing away. I still have the link. Or are they gone forever?469Views0likes5CommentsFiles disappeared from dropbox after moving them from mac to dropbox app in finder
Hi, I had to create space in my mac storage for a software install. I moved files into the dropbox app in my finder. Lost of files. After the other software update, dropbox app disappeared from finder. I looked on the desktop versions, my moved files weren't there. I contacted dropbox support, they suggested deleted files, events, re-installing the app on the computer, nothing worked. They want the moved files exact names, which I do not have. There is a peculiar thing that some of the files moved from my computer appear like ghosts icons in dropbox recent files, just to disappear once dropbox loads up all the folders. So i suspect my files are somewhere, but customer service cannot find them or didn't look enough. Anyone with same problem? thank you!1.3KViews0likes12CommentsIs there a way to compare the files within two sets of folders?
Hello - A vendor sent me a link to their Dropbox folders to download information. Unfortunately, their folder names are the same as the names of the shared folders we use to collaborate. Is there a way to compare the two sets of folders and see what I am missing from what is in their set so I don't have to download everything and scrub out the duplicates the long way? Hi all, I need your advice if you have similar experiences. Thank you in advance. I'm using window system working from home, in my office, and using my two desktops, android phone, and ipad pro. I reinstall dropbox app and reboot my desktops regularly for the issues below these days. I stored my work files in Dropbox on my desk tops and encountered syncing issues. Despite keep them power on both my home and office to ensure synchronization, the problem occasionally happens. Each time, I had to reboot my system to initiate syncing, otherwise sync doesn't work. Another issue is, when I saved files last night at home, only to discover they were missing when I checked at the office the next day. Despite verifying at home, I couldn't find them either. This occurrence repeated multiple times, prompting me to reboot my desktop to address any syncing errors. Sometimes I had to check Dropbox website instead of window explorer app.For this issue I make all files "available offline".I thought, at least they should be available in local dropbox folder in my external hard disk. After approximately two hours later, the missing files finally appeared, causing more frustration. If totally disappeared, I would consider it my fault, but the files showed up two hours later, not even available in the local drive for one day. Considering this ongoing inconvenience, I am thinking of switching from my company's Dropbox to other company if similar issues keep going on.702Views0likes5CommentsHow can I change ownership of my team member folder?
I put a whole bunch of my work inside my personal folder on our work account and I am the Owner of the folder and I don't see any way to allow my boss to be able to view inside the folder. I can share individual folders inside my main folder than I own, but I can not share the main folder. Is it not possible to share this folder? Can I change the ownership so that my boss owns it? If I do change ownership does that mean that I will no longer be able to see the contents?Solved1.4KViews0likes4CommentsDropbox is not searchable in Mac OS Monterey 12.0.1

I'm not sure what's happened and I'm really frustrated. I got a new phone a few weeks ago, downloaded Dropbox and set it up so my photos would upload automatically from my phone to Dropbox. Not only did that not work, but when I sign into Dropbox on my desktop none of my photos or files are there. Everything is gone. I don't understand where my old account is with all my photos, and I'm not sure how to contact Dropbox to get help. Thank you in advance for the help.Solved2KViews0likes14Comments
