Yesterday I uploaded a movie file to Dropbox for some friends to download. Immediately after, I decided to check from a browser that wasn't logged in, to see what it would look like for them if they didn't have a Dropbox account. I was shocked to discover, under “Activity”: “Patricia Johnson downloaded this file” and “Anthony Abate viewed this file” (neither name recognised by me): So, then I logged in to investigate, but only saw “Traffic and insights: See who’s visiting... Upgrade to Dropbox Professional to start tracking.”: Surely this isn’t a scare tactic to get me to upgrade to a paid account, is it??Solved33KViews1like12CommentsSyncing icons on the files in the Dropbox folder have changed
Hello The Finder Extension Icons indicating whether a file or folder is Online Only or Available Offline are showing up in my Finder, however, the statuses are incorrect. For instance a folder that contains files that are both Online Only files and Available Offline files is showing a cloud icon, when it should be showing a white circle with a green checkmark and green outline. I think the Finder Extension is confused. Is there a way to reset the Finder Extension so the icons show correctly without changing the Online Only or Available Offline settings that I have for my files/folders? I do not want to change the statuses of my files/folders, I just want the icons to indicate the statuses correctly. Thank you. I am assuming work is being done in the background, but as of a few days ago, I no longer have green circles for downloaded (available offline) files. Everything has a cloud symbol (that symbol doesn't even exist in the online documentation) but seems to be available offline. I am also getting lots of sync errors - but my files appear to be still on my computer (where I need them). And yesterday the DROPBOX icon disappeared from my sidebar (Locations). Only to show up again hours later. Strange. What is going on? These sync irregularities seem to be quite substantial. Syncing files is what Dropbox is all about. I am a little surprised this beta version was even released to the public. When I joined the beta, the email I got from dropbox made it sound like the final release was imminent.Solved24KViews4likes15CommentsNo Option to "Make Available Offline."
Honestly, this seemingly late "bringing to the forefront" (I guess you'd call it) of the whole "Online Only" vs. "Make Available Offline" thing has been more of a headache than a help, if I may offer my opinion. I purchased a new ultra-portable Windows computer which has a 256GB SSD on board, but I plan on using my Dropbox files with it, and I have well over 256GB worth of stuff in my Dropbox. The thing is that I'm often in situations in which I need offline access to my files. So I purchased a 1 TB microSD card, which will never leave its slot in this machine. Heck, I can't even retrieve it, it seems. I mounted it so that it isn't considered "Removable Media" by the computer, and then I proceeded to install Dropbox on the computer, with the intent of using the 1 TB card exclusively for Dropbox content...offline. I left my machine to sync overnight, and what do you know? Everything has a stupid cloud next to it. I have no option to "Make Available Offline," either in the file/folder context menu or in the Dropbox application > Preferences > Sync menu. If this is by design, it's a pitifully stupid design. I'm going to whatever lengths I can to make this work the way I envision, but I'm going to be awfully disappointed if Dropbox doesn't respect use cases that might not necessarily conform to a narrow definition. If it's an issue with a recent update to the application, then please bug the developers posthaste.Solved20KViews1like125CommentsImage thumbnail not showing up, only generic icon when i goto 'camera uploads' to try to attach imag

This is a Windows 10 machine. I have tried quitting and restarting the dropbox app. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I am viewing the correct folder -- I clicked the folder icon on the dropbox app. My other machine, a laptop with Win 11 on it shows the green checkmarks properly. It would be nice to have these checkmarks so I can see at a glance if a file is synced or not, rather than opening the app and hunting through the sync history.Solved15KViews3likes11CommentsMenu bar icon not appearing
I used to be a Basic member but am now a member of a Family Plan. I am not able to get the Dropbox icon on my menu bar on a new Mac - Monterey 12.01. I have quit and trashed the application and have reinstalled a couple of times, but nothing. I can't for the life of me get the icon on my Menu Bar. Does the Menu Bar have a space limitation? I would think not. Any help out there?Solved13KViews0likes20CommentsHow to remove an transfer option from context menu windows 11
Hi, it has been bothering me for a while that there is a Dropbox option in every menu. I have never used it, I do transfer files to dropbox via a folder - I organize the files right away. I removed the transfer option from the old menu (the same way as for win 10, described somewhere on the forum, I have a .reg file to make it easier), but as you know, win 11 also has a second, new context menu. I can not remove it, and I have not found any help on the forum or in google. Is there any key option in the registry to disable this menu? Or at least team can add an option in the dropbox settings to enable/disable integrate with the menu, so as not to mess with the registry editor? Not everyone needs a ton of options on the menu.Solved9.8KViews2likes5CommentsDropbox files Preview pane
From File Manager, when I click on a .pdf, the preview pane shows this: Index of C:\users\owner\dropbox\ and then lists everything in my dropbox. This shows on everyone's pc I have shared the folders with. This is only happening in the first two folders that I know of. I have at least 25 folders.Solved9.2KViews1like10Comments
