I'm currently seeing this If I click on Fix, it shows me this Then when I go to folder, it's unclear how to fix, going to Share as suggested I just get this I think I may have clicked "no" by mistake when the system asked to share originally, how do I fix this sharing decision?Solved501Views0likes3CommentsFile permissions aren't matching online administrator settings
So, strange thing started happening across all of my user accounts on our Dropbox installations on our Mac OS devices. When we go to the Admin Console and then go to Settings >Top-level content management, it gives us the following option: Top-level folder management Choose to allow all team members to create, rename, move, or delete top-level folders in the team space, or restrict it to admins only. We have the setting set to "Everyone". However, when I go to Finder on my MacBook (or on any of my Mac OS devices) and try to create a folder or place a file in the Top-Level folder or delete a folder, we are unable to do so. When I right-click on the Top-level folder, it shows that the file folder is "Locked". When we try to unlock the folder by de-selecting the "Locked" checkbox, it immediately re-locks the folder. However, when we quit the Dropbox App on the computer, and then re-launch Finder, we can change the permissions and unlock the folder. But as soon as we re-start the Dropbox App, the Top-level folder once again becomes "Locked" and no changes can be made to that Folder.394Views0likes5CommentsUnsigned Executable Muddies Water on Security Investigations
On Mac, an unsigned executable can muddy the water on security investigations. /Library/DropboxHelperTools/Dropbox_u501/dbkextd Whereas unsigned executables are a big attack vector for Mac, anything that is in here could be the source of an experienced security event. All legitimate software installed by a legitimate company should be signed to avoid this delay. Signing it would make it not appear suspicious in an investigation and save security incident responders precious moments. Being unsigned could also allude to the executable having been tampered with. If there is a signed version in the original files and the unsigned version exists in the system, then that is a far simpler check that than trying to reverse engineer the suspected unsigned executable to see what might have been wrapped into it. Long story short, signing all your files for your app makes our lives in security a lot less frustrating.638Views0likes2CommentsDropbox caches my system password, how do I clear it?
I installed dropbox a while ago and foolishly gave it the system password when it asked. Now I would like to clear it out, but I don't know how. I have uninstalled dropbox, and removed every folder and item with "dropbox" in the name under my user account's Library folder (except for the actual Dropbox files). I removed dropbox from Accessibility permissions and from being a login account. I rebooted and verified dropbox was not re-added. I looked in the keychain for items containing dropbox and found none. When I install dropbox again, it does not prompt me for my user account password OR my dropbox account password. Yet somehow it adds itself to the Accessibility permissions anyway and is logged into my account. That indicates to me that it is caching both of my passwords somewhere. I am fine with caching my dropbox password, but I absolutely am not fine with it caching my MacOS account password. Where is the cache and how do I remove it?448Views0likes3CommentsWhy am I being asked to turn on accessibility on my new Mac computer?
Good Morning, I have a new computer and keep getting this message. I read the "Learn More" page and I need further information. I would like to see "Dropbox" on the side bar of my computer so I can easily access my account when I want to store files to Dropbox and not just on my computer but I don't need Dropbox to do anything else. I do not use it with a team. So, I don't want to have Dropbox accessing my whole computer and it seems like this is what the error code might be referencing. Sorry for the really elementary question but any help you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you.466Views0likes1CommentExportaspdf Excel VBA code fail to save to Dropbox when defined as a network drive
Before moving the dropbox folder to a network drive on my MAC, the EXCEL VBA macro to Exportaspdf print option worked. (the excel workbook was open from dropbox). Now that the dropbox moved to a network location the same Exportaspdf code failed with and unidentified error. If I copy the excel workbook to my local drive and run it from there, the macro works correctly. Could it be a problem of granting access to the network drive before saving? if so how could I code the grant permission. Thanks504Views0likes2CommentsProtecting my account while my Mac is at the shop.
I have to send my Mac into shop for repairs. I'm worried about the folks there having access to some delicate info in my dropbox account. I have on-line access to my account as well as an 'access box' (symbol) on screen. How can I shut her down for a few days while my machine is away? Many thanks for the help. Fresh Mac, upgraded Dropbox to the new File Provider setup. In macOS settings/Privacy & Security/Extensions/Added Extensions, there are two extensions under Dropbox: Finder Extensions (off) and Sharing (on). What does Finder Extensions do? Is this no longer necessary with File Provider upgrade? I have contextual menus still, so not sure anything is missing.Solved3.6KViews0likes3CommentsHow to change my app data on new MacBook pro
Please help me get the Dropbox app on my new MacBook Pro. I have tried downloading the installer a dozen times with the same error message each time. The Dropbox app data user path is wrong (from my old iMac), and I don't know how to change it to my new computer user name in the app.Solved1.3KViews0likes4Comments
