I have been using dropbox to store and access microsoft documents on my mac for months but out of nowhere this morning when I clicked to open a document I was told 'Word cannot open the document: user does not have access privileges'. I created the document so I don't see why there would be an issue. Does anyone have advice on how to fix this? Thank youSolved109KViews0likes24CommentsCannot Change Excel online date format

Hello. I've had the same password protected Word doc in my dropbox for years now. On the same Android device I've been using for years as well, I am suddenly unable to open that file. When I try, I get a "File type not supported" error. There is no "open with" option. There used to be one. I have tried reinstalling, wiping cache and data, etc - Dropbox app as well as Office and Word apps. I have tried unlinking and linking Office and Word to Dropbox. On my device as well as on the web. I have tried saving the file to device. There is nothing wrong with the file. I can open it just fine from Dropbox PC. I can also open it on my phone from the Word app. When I try to open a non-protected Word doc, I get a preview. And only then does an "open with" option appear. Solutions desired: Setting Dropbox Android to open Word docs in the Word app by default rather than trying to give me a preview. Also, reinstatement of the "open with" option outside of doc preview. (This has completely disappeared for all my Dropbox files, not just this one.)Solved15KViews2likes30Commentscan't save files from Office365-app to Dropbox - supposedly write protected
Hello there! Starting yesterday all of a sudden I can't save files to my Dropbox via the Office 365-app anymore. I get a message telling me that the file is write protected, which it isn't. It tells me to save a copy, when trying to do that I get the same error message. Up until the day before yesterday everything worked like a charm. I haven't knowingly changed anything about my smartphone's configuration, no new apps etc. Had anyone ever experienced this issue? Any ideas on how to solve it? Thank you! Please help. I'm using a Pixel 6 with Android version 12 updated 7/5/22. I was trying to open an excel file on Dropbox with Excel. It then brought me to this page saying "Sign in to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration" in the Excel app. I chose "Sign in with Google" since that's how my Dropbox was setup. After entering my email and password, it told me "You do not have any security keys registered for this account.", so I chose "Try another way". Then I chose "Tap Yes on your phone or tablet", which then caused Google to send me a notification asking "Are you trying to sign in?" I chose "Yes, that's me.", then the Authorization Error page showed up, with the following message: Authorization Error Error 403: disallowed_useragent You can’t sign in from this screen because this app doesn’t comply with Google’s secure browsers policy. I use the Dropbox app on my iphone. I used to be able to open excel files in excel by using “open with - excel”. But now it sends me to a screen saying Microsoft Integration wants permission. I hit the Allow button (the only other option available is “learn more”) and it just takes me back to the list of files in Dropbox. I can never get past that. I used to be able to open them from the Excel app as well, but not now. I followed the Learn more link, which said, "Google editor will no longer work for opening or editing non-Google files in Dropbox. Will another free editor be available in place of Google Docs?Solved8.9KViews0likes12CommentsMigrate files to Google Drive vs. convert to Microsoft Office files?
I got an email that says "Google files in Dropbox will be replaced with shortcuts to documents in Google Drive" and "If you do not wish to move your Google files to your Google account, they will be automatically converted to Microsoft files." I'm not sure which option to choose. I mostly use Dropbox to store Word files, most of which were originally created using Microsoft Word but since I usually use Dropbox in a web browser, I've been opening them and creating them using Google docs for years now. Which option is least likely to result in reformatting issues? Which will be easiest to use going forward if I'm mostly just editing and creating text documents?Solved7.9KViews0likes10CommentsGetting notifications about online-only files, with Google Drive/OneDrive active
I have a regular DropBox account that I've been using for many years. This afternoon, it suddenly started giving my this very same notification every 30 seconds or so. It doesn't tell me which files it's having trouble with - just, "These files are online-only." When I click on the notification, it goes away, but it continues the incessant beeping. How do I get this to stop?!7.8KViews1like58CommentsMicrosoft Office access to files and folders in Dropbox
Hello, I have seen a post regarding access rights given on files and folders when using Microsoft office online and would appreciate a clarification. I have user with which I am sharing an excel file from my community dropbox, but they are reluctant to edit it as Microsoft Office pops up and says it needs to give them access to their files and folders in dropbox. They have a private dropbox which, of course, would not want to share with Microsoft. Has this feature a workaround or this is a allow or do not use excel at all? If the latter, would it work to download the file make the changes and then upload it again? Would the new file replace the file on the web or add an additional file? Many thanks for your help!
