26 TopicsIs the email: em-s.dropbox.com legitimate? [Answer: Yes]
I have received an e-mail telling me of a new document available for me in Dropbox. The e-mail is from an address that ends with " em-s.dropbox.com ". Can anybody confirm that " em-s. " is a valid adjunct to " dropbox.com ", or is it sooner a trick? Thank you.Solved102KViews3likes122Comments[security] Got a Dropbox security code email, but 2-factor verification is *off*. Reasons?
Hey I received the following email yesterday, sent to the email address used for registering my Dropbox account: Hi [first name] [6-digit code] is your one-time Dropbox security code. Happy Dropboxing! - The Dropbox Team However, 2-factor authorization is turned off for my account. I just checked it again, 2FA was, and still is, disabled. A cursory glance at the source suggests the email was sent by Dropbox. I know sender addresses can be spoofed, but the URL in the email was the real one, so I don't see a reason to believe it's a scam/phishing mail. My question is then: Are there any other cases (other than on accounts with 2FA enabled) when Dropbox would send a one-time security code by email?Solved19KViews3likes22CommentsReceived a "Complete your DropBox setup" e-mail out of nowhere
I just received a "Complete your DropBox setup" e-mail with instructions for doing just that -- it has the usual checklist in the e-mail and shows step 1 "create a dropbox account" as completed but then shows the next step as "download the desktop and mobile apps". Well, what exactly triggered this e-mail? Because I've been a member already for many, many years, and I already have both the mobile and desktop apps installed and set up on multiple devices. I haven't done anything recently that is out of the ordinary. It's just doing its thing on each of those clients. This worries me that someone has somehow triggered.Solved9KViews2likes18CommentsI reported a suspicious file that was shared with me, but received no response
I received an email that purported to have been sent by Dropbox telling me there was a File shared with me. I was not expecting this and was very suspicious that it had not come from Dropbox as the email it was sent from "em-s.dropbox.com looked odd. After spending quite a while trying to find some help or support I eventually found an abuse@dropbox email to send this type of potentially false contact. I forwarded the email as requested and received a response from support quoting a ticket number. I have heard nothing since despite sending a reminder. The ticket link in the email does not go to a ticket link so is completely useless and seems to indicate that no actual ticket has ever been created. The fact that Dropbox does not appear to provide any real support and like a number of other companies now seems to rely on customers running communities as a cheap way of providing any information does not encourage my continued use of this business. It seems clear that if they have no interest in ensuring that customers who may be subjected to phishing-type emails using their name are at the minimum acknowledged they really have no customer care or appreciation.Solved4.8KViews0likes3CommentsEnclosed: Your download is waiting and ATTN: We recommend completing your Dropbox setup ASAP
I have been getting these random emails from Dropbox over the last week. I have been using Dropbox for a very long time (10+ yrs) and as far as I know everything is set up correctly. Are these just system glitches?Solved3KViews0likes6CommentsNew login email notifications every minute. How to stop them?
Hi! So today I logged into my Dropbox account via the Chrome web browser and started getting "We noticed a new sign in to your Dropbox" about twice every minute. I've already opened one of them and confirmed it was me, and also closed the tab where I had my Dropbox open, but the barrage of emails won't stop. I've received like 40 already. Can someone please help? It's driving me insane because my phone vibrates every time I receive one. I guess I will deactivate these types of notifications, but it has to be a bug, right? How can I fix it? Thanks!Solved1.9KViews0likes16CommentsDropBox shows wrong name on desktop notification when someone adds a file to a shared folder
Hi, just came back to Dropbox after many years of not using it. Sharing folders with other users and one of them has the same email address that a user on the same domain had many, many years ago. I have not (knowingly) connected my Dropbox to any other service, email client, Gmail or similar. I have no "connected apps" or at least I do not see any on my account under the General tab. I have checked so I don't have this old user in any address book of mine (only the new user). I have searched for this problem and someone had a similar problem regarding getting emails with the wrong name but that does not apply to my problem since it is the notification that pops up on desktop when someone is adding a file to one of my shared folders that gives the wrong information. Quite annoying since the person that comes up in the popup is someone I do not want to have anything to do with while the new person (who has the same email address) is very likable. Does anybody know where I can delete the entries that Dropbox obviously has sucked up without my knowledge once upon a time and that I now cannot get rid of?Solved1.7KViews0likes4CommentsWindows (10) keeps telling me that Dropbox wants to change files on my machine
Windows (10) keeps telling me that Dropbox wants to change files on my machine. I get the Account Protection security pop-up window multiple times a day and sometimes there'll be dozens of them in the morning. What's going on?1.5KViews0likes11CommentsIs this a scam?
Is an email from Dropbox (no-reply@em-s.dropbox.com) a scam? It says: "Please consider backing up your files"--through their link. I've been using Dropbox for years and always assumed everything was automatically backed up. Is it not? And is this an authentic-looking scam? I have Dropbox Plus with 2 TB of storage. I've been using Dropbox Passwords on one PC with Google Chrome browser and on my iPhone (14) with no real issues. That PC had a coffee incident and is in for repairs. I took the opportunity to buy a new (additional) PC. I'm trying to instal the Chrome extension for passwords on the new PC. It says it's sending a notification to my iPhone and the original PC for me to acknowledge. As far as I can tell that notification never makes it to my iPhone (I don't have the other PC at present to check. Then I try using Recovery Words - I can access them from the settings in the Dropbox Passwords app on my phone. I enter all 12 words very carefully and get told "Something went wrong, please try again". No amount of trying solves the issue.Solved1.1KViews0likes3Comments
