Quota
33 TopicsIssues with shared folder access and quota usage on Dropbox Basic plan
Hello, I’m currently on Dropbox Basic (Free) with a total of 8.5 GB of storage. I use Dropbox primarily for my business and recently set up a shared folder specifically for our social media manager, who has edit access. Her role involves uploading, downloading, and managing digital content for our marketing efforts, and I gave her Can Edit permissions, expecting that she could fully collaborate within this folder without needing her own storage space. However, we’re encountering issues. She’s been getting messages suggesting that she needs to upgrade her account to access the folder fully. Initially, she received an error stating that “access through the links requires an upgrade.” She temporarily upgraded to a 30-day free trial, which resolved the access issue, but ideally, we’d like to keep both our accounts on the Basic plan. My understanding was that as long as I have enough space on my account, any content shared within this folder would be covered by my storage capacity, not requiring her to have additional storage on her end. Questions: 1.Is there a way to allow her to upload, download, and edit files without her needing additional storage or an upgraded account? 2.Are there specific sharing settings I should adjust so she can manage files within my storage limits? 3.Would sharing a link instead of an “invite to edit” resolve these storage-related prompts, or does it limit collaboration capabilities? Thank you for any insights on how I might be able to set this up efficiently on a Dropbox Basic plan!Solved543Views0likes1CommentCan't add any more files to a shared folder as my quota is full, why?
I have a free account - somehow it claims I have more than 3 GB of files. Another user has shared a folder of theirs. They have a pro plan with 2 TB of space. Somehow I get the message that I have used up my space and cannot add any more to the Shared Folder of the paid account. Please advise! We are in the middle of a project right now and need to share these files! Help!245Views0likes5CommentsHow can I free up space taken up by a shared folder?
We keep receiving emails from Dropbox that we have exceeded the storage for our free basic plan. We have deleted all our files from Dropbox, but one of our vendors owns a file, shared with us, which appears on our dashboard. The vendor told us they deleted the file, but it still appears on our dashboard. What can be done please? Must we delete our Dropbox account entirely?182Views0likes1CommentHow can I save 4 TB of files to my computer, if I only have a Basic account?
Hi I am a novice here so apologies if i gave dumb questions.... I have a free, Basic Dropbox account which offers 2GB free storage. Please can you explain what happens when i want to download 4TB of data from my friends link? He sent me an email with a button icon labelled "Add to Dropbox" When I click on it... A banner flashes up saying i dont have enough data space and should upgrade...this banner then disappears and i then have 2 options: "JOIN Folder" or "PREVIEW This Folder" I click on PREVIEW... At this point there are 3 options along top of screen: 1. Join Folder 2. Copy to Dropbox 3. Save to device If i want to stay Basic (no upgrade) - how can i SAVE all the 4TB of data (spread out in about 300 folders) to my PC/device It looks like the SAVE TO DEVICE doesnt work for entire folders... only for individual files/docs.... I need to SAVE the top folder - else i would have to go into many 1000s of files one by one Thank you277Views0likes3CommentsHow can I share a folder with someone that has a free account?
I want to share a dropbox folder with a friend. She does not have access to a laptop, only a phone. When she attempts to open the link in the mobile browser, she is forced to open the app. When opening the app, it says that as a free user, she does not have enough space and needs to pay. Would be nice if she could upload to the link without the app.156Views0likes2CommentsSince when do you have to PAY to view a shared folder?
A client shared has shared rather large files from their dropbox account and I'm unable to view them without paying for a dropbox account, what in the world is this dark pattern money gouging effort by dropbox?!. My business does not use Dropbox (and hasn't intentionally since it started going downhill in 2014.)Solved1.6KViews0likes9CommentsMy Dropbox wasn't syncing - are all my files gone?
My account was closed in mid sept. I had 2TB and not 5GB. I thought my local dropbox on my computer was synced but it appears it was not (only 80gb was). I wonder now if all my files are gone in dropbox? Can I reinstate for just one month? Really unfortunate. I have been trying to find a contact for dropbox support but it seems I need to pay for it.184Views0likes1CommentWhy can't another user join a shared folder that is large?
Our organization has a Dropbox Plus account. I have a shared folder that has 7 members. The folder is about 50 GB in size. I recently added a new member and they are unable to open the folder. They are getting an error stating that they are limited to a 2GB plan and cannot access the link. I am assuming that is their personal Dropbox account putting that limitation in place, but am not sure of what workaround I can use. To my knowledge, all other users have access to the folder.Solved330Views0likes1CommentMembers who have edit access are getting a message that their Dropbox is full
