64 TopicsAuto-Log Out function for the website
I work at a very large University and there are literally thousand of students and staff using dropbox here. I recently noticed that dropbox does not log out automatically on browsers. This may be a Chrome/IE issue. However, if you bring up dropbox on almost any computer at the uni, there is still someone logged in into his/her account, because people assume that they are logged out when they close the browser. This is a significant security risk for personal data - PLEASE ENABLE AN AUTO_LOG OUT SETTING WITH A TIMER (ie - after 10 minutes inactivity) THIS IS STANDARD FOR SENSITIVE DATA WEBSITES - PLEASE VOTE FOR THIS FEATURE - IT IS CRUCIAL FOR MILLIONS OF DROPBOX USERS WHO LOG IN ON PUBLIC COMPUTERS AND MAY FORGET TO LOG OUT. THANKS FOR YOUR VOTE!12KViews18likes8CommentsAdmin disable "remember me" on login screen
As an admin I would like the ability to disable the "remember me" option on the login screen. This would force the user to enter a password whenever logging into Dropbox online. Many apps make this available to company admins. As cybersecurity becomes increasingly important this is a feature that I think is absolutely mandatory. I would really like for Dropbox to close the desktop app when a user logs out of their computer. For some reason they think this is unnecessary and that a computer password is sufficient security. I find it interesting that Boxcryptor, one of their technology partners, offers this extra security but Dropbox doesn't bother to do so. Would it really take that much effort to add this feature? You talk about how secure our data is in your cloud storage. How about helping to make it secure on my desktop?11KViews10likes11CommentsRemove fake file activity when not logged in
After I upload a file to Dropbox for others to download, the recipients (without Dropbox accounts) open the link and see, under “Activity”: “Patricia Johnson downloaded this file” and “Anthony Abate viewed this file”: Apparently, this is supposed to be just an example of what file activity would look like if one were signed in to the account. However, it’s not obvious that this is the case, and has (understandably) caused concern for those who believe their privacy has been breached. Please remove this “feature”.6.3KViews9likes10CommentsI would like more tools to analyze my team's file activity on Dropbox
DropBox has evolved within many organizations to take on the role of more than just a sharing and archiving system, to become a fundamental hub integral to many facets of their work. From collaboration, to knowledge distribution, many have leveraged the available client tools, however, the tools available to administrators has not grown along with it. I need data on my data, and sadly the available reports are lacking. For instance, I can see the super-users on our deployment based on physical file storage, but I cannot see what specific files of theirs that are generating the most activity. How am I supposed to justify my license count if there is no means to truly verify the service is worth it, and actively utilized?4.4KViews6likes6CommentsMake a BAA available to individual professional users.
Why not add a BAA option to the individual professional plan? From multiple online discussions, I know I am not the only solo practitioner who wants a HIPAA compliant app to take psychotherapy notes by hand during sessions (on an ipad or other tablet). Your only option is Dropbox business, but I would be the only user, and I am already paying a monthly fee for my medical records software (not to mention a secure faxing app) - I balk at an additional fee that is almost as much. As a very small business, I just cannot justify that cost. My G Suites for business is less than 10.00 per month and supports a BAA, but I don't love the interface of Google Keep, and would prefer Dropbox paper.18KViews5likes8CommentsDisplay requester's email address in File Request
I use File Request to help clients send sensitive information to me securely. To improve security and their confidence, it would be nice if they could verify that the File Request is going to me, not someone spoofing me. To do that, you could perhaps display the requester's email address on the File Request. This way, the file sender can easily see who will receive their file, and confirm it is the person they are trying to send it to.1.3KViews4likes4CommentsSetting to change how long the Vault stays unlocked.
It would be great to have a setting that determines how long the vault on mobile devices and the website stays unlocked. I read that the vault on mobile stays unlocked for only 3 minutes. That's entirely too short and so inconvenient. The vault also seems to lock immediately if you switch applications for a few moments and then go back to it. Again, there should be a setting giving preset options for how long you want the vault to stay open like (Default=3 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours). Another option is displaying a prompt with the same options when you open the vault so the user can select it at that time. Perhaps these options only become available on mobile if the users device or app meets other criteria, like having a passcode/pin/biometric unlock set on the device and or having one of those options set in the app.2.3KViews3likes5CommentsMake members invisible to others
Hello, I noticed that when a members access to my folders via your website, he can see all the other members' name on the upper right corner. I can also double click on their icon and send a mail to anybody! I don't want any member to get access to the other members. So, please add a feature to disable viewing all other members.2.3KViews3likes1CommentAdd support to deploy Dropbox via MDM
Small and large companies use MDM's, like Microsoft Intune, to manage their devices. As Dropbox has a focus on companies, it's one of the only apps that 1: doesn't offer an app to install via MDM for Mac and Windows, 2: doesn't support script for auto account login via MDM. Dropbox does support EMM, but that doesn't to the trick for most companies.
