1603 TopicsWe can't access the account with two factor code enabled, as the email is deleted
Hi We have a business account with Dropbox. It was created using a former employee's email. I can't log in and change the email address because two-factor authentication is enabled. The email has been deleted, so I can't receive the code. What should I do?21Views0likes3CommentsShow IP logins in easy accessable log
Since IP addresses are not shown in security allerts of new login I want an ease accessable "Your Logins", just as you have the "Your Activity", in the program/app and in web login. Notification just mentioning that there has been a web browser login without mention from where (what IP address) is pretty useless, so I need to see from where the access is to eliminate the suspicion of unauthorized logins somewhere, without searching in settings for open sessions. Thank you.7Views1like1CommentMy iPhone was stolen and two-factor authentication is preventing my account access.
My iphone was stolen, and two factor authentication is stopping me from logging in. A code is supposed to be sent to my new phone, but I never receive it. Sometimes I receive an error message that says there was an error sending the code. I changed my password on my account with the Apple Private Relay address, but I am not receiving the code, so I can’t logon. I have 2 factor authentication on, and I can’t get the code from the Auth App either because of the stolen phone. See attached screenshot with error message Dropbox Support staff says I will never be able to recover my account because the email address is an Apple private relay address and I cannot send them an email from this address. This is ridiculous. I have recovered other accounts elsewhere that use Apple’s private relay address. Dropbox Support says they are going to just close my Help Desk Ticket without helping me further/with no resolution. This seems to be bad security recovery design. I would appreciate any help in gaining access to my account. I only have one device- my new iPhone. Thanks118Views0likes6CommentsCan you change the data locations for Basic accounts?
Hello, Given the increasing focus and concern on data transfers and data storage locations it makes sense the Dropbox should extend the option to choose the storage location on all accounts not just the ones that are paid for. I appreciate that this feature is a way to differentiate accounts between free to paid (and a way to make money) but the rights of the data subject are still crucial. I know Dropbox have all the relevant documentation and standards however that is not the same as having your data in your own country/region.700Views0likes14CommentsWhat are the functional restrictions of end-to-end encryption on Business Plus?
What functional limitations do I have with dropbox if I encrypt my data end-to-end (with my Business Plus subscription)? Are functions such as restoring previous versions of files still possible? Does Dropbox recognize attacks on my data despite end-to-end encryption? Thanks for your help!!!47Views0likes4CommentsAccount deleted by my old business partner. Can I restore it?
Hi There! I’m looking for help regarding my Dropbox account, which I’ve had for over 8 years. Recently, I tried to log in and discovered that the account has been deleted. This account contains a significant amount of personal and client-related videos and photos, and losing access to it has been devastating. Here’s some context that might help: Two months ago, my business partner locked me out of all accounts associated with my work email due to a messy separation. My Dropbox account was originally a personal account, created before I joined the company, and was not paid for or created by the business. At some point, I switched the account’s email to my work email, but I didn’t realize this until now. I suspect my former business partner may have gained access to the account and deleted it. I’m hoping there’s a way to recover the deleted account and its contents, as well as change the account’s email address to a personal one that I control. This account is incredibly important to me, and I would greatly appreciate any assistance you can provide in restoring it. Please let me know what steps I need to take or any information you require from me to proceed. Thank you so much for your help during this stressful time.Solved47Views0likes4CommentsPassword-protect a Paper document
I'd very much like to protect a paper file with a password to store personal data I wouldn't want to get accessed from someone who might steal my phone or I might inadvertently share with others. That was a feature of Evernote though. Why isnt't this possible on dropbox? There has been a post about this suggestion about this 6 yrs ago! Thank you for your attention.37Views0likes2CommentsI can't access an old Dropbox account; I don't have the password/email address.
Hello, I can't access an older account I made, only this one and another one that I made later. All I remember about it is that it had some art and animations on there that were created in Macromedia Flash, that the password that I last set it to doesn't work anymore (possibly because of a data breach?), I don't have access to the email associated with it [removed per Community Guidelines], and I can't login. Help! Thanks, Aleph65Views0likes7CommentsSender receives an email notification when and with who they share a folder with!
Whenever the owner shares a folder/ file in dropbox they should receive a delivery notification that the folder/ file has been shared with the receiver detailing the date/ time/ receiver details (name and account/ email), similar to the one a receiver gets from dropbox portal that a file/ folder has been shared by xxxx dropbox account. We all make mistakes or sometimes it could be some glitch in the devices, a folder is shared accidently and as you do not receive any notifications so such detail can easily be missed as the sender is oblivious of the activity/ mistake and it can go unnoticed. When the receiver accepts and joins the folder than its easy to check who has access but in cases where the receiver accepts and immediately removes themselves in that case its practically impossible to track if the shared folder was ever accessed by the receiver. This also can be deemed as a security concern, as the sender is completely oblivious of the shared folder status and there is no proof that the folder was actually shared with the receiver. The activity log and events page do reflect the sharing of the folder but do not provide details with who the folder/ file was shared. Hope this can be taken into consideration as can surely help track sharing of folders much better and secured. Thanks27Views0likes2Comments
