2043 TopicsHow to Leave a Shared Folder
I'm relatively new to DropBox, and I'm using DropBox Basic, with no interest in upgrading to Pro at this time. A client has shared a folder with me that includes many subfolders, and I have just reached my space limit. I'd like to leave some of those subfolders to open up some space. Is this possible, and how do I do it? Is the only solution to leave that top-level folder? If so, will that interfere with the client's ability to share with me more subfolders of that top-level share in future? I need to be able to let the client share new subfolders, while I drop older subfolders to maintain a reasonable amount of space. Thanks!Solved185KViews1like12CommentsHow do I embed images with a direct link from Dropbox?
Hi, I would like to share my pictures to forums where pictures are embedded like . How to share pictures from Dropbox to the forums like that? I cant find a option where to get direct urls.Solved139KViews1like20CommentsHow do I allow others to upload files directly to my Dropbox account?
I want to allow a third party to upload a file once a month. Does this person need to be a member? Can I give a link to the folder? Is that all I'd need to do? Would the 3rd party be able to see everything in this folder? Should I make a folder just for this person to upload to it 1x per month?Solved131KViews1like15CommentsEnding support of public folder
Just heard from dropbox that support for the public folder is ending. --------- As a result, we’ll soon be ending support for the Public folder. Dropbox Pro users will be able to use the Public folder until September 1, 2017. After that date the files in your Public folder will become private, and links to these files will be deactivated. Your files will remain safe in Dropbox. If you’d like to keep sharing files in your Public folder, you can create new shared links. Just make sure to send the new URLs to your collaborators. -------- It is one of the most useful features of the service for me as I use it toget links to single files that I can send to people without setting up shared folders and requiring them to have dropbox accounts. (Save file to my public folder locally, syncs, right click, get publick link, paste. Doesn't get any easier than that.) It's also useful for bb style forum posts where you can link to images with an easy tag. With the public folder support being removed, is there going to be an alternative solution to allow easy public sharing of single files?Solved108KViews0likes659CommentsHow do I upload a file to someone else's Dropbox account?
I need to upload a file to the Dropbox of another user. I did not have an account, but in the process of trying to do this, I opened one. The other user sent me a link to his Dropbox, but I don't think it was an actual "request" for files-- it says I have the right to edit his folder. I have tried to upload my file from a flash drive to his folder about 15 times. Each time, the screen says the file is "uploading" and there is a bar showing the progress--but then the entire thing disappears and the folder is still empty. Questions: (1) is this because he did not send me a file request, but just a link that gives me access to edit files in his Dropbox? (2) is this because my own account does not have enough space for the large file? (3) something else? This is very frustrating and I am about to give up and just make a copy of the file onto another flash drive and put it in the mail.Solved105KViews2likes6Commentsdoes Dropbox compressed photo files???
I'm sending full resolution photo files to clients instead of burning them on a disc, but I want to make sure they are the full resolution. I had a client that had pictures made at Walgreens, and they were pixely..I told her not to resize them at all o her end, but now I'm wondering if they are compressed at all and no longer full resolution. If so, I need to go back to discs. Thanks!Solved99KViews2likes71CommentsCan't Open a DropBox link sent to me
I am trying to obtain a retirement interview video file that the sender can open with their link and drop box account, but the file cannot be opened by me at my end. I do not know if it is a firewall issue, but I can't open the link on my end? I get a response saying it is a "local file" and it cannot be opened. Here is the link: file://R900E6BR/Users/am1113/Dropbox/File%20May%2012,%2010%2043%2001%20AM.movSolved96KViews1like10CommentsCan legal adult content be uploaded to Dropbox?
Hello, The terms of use are a bit vague, so I need some more clarification please, particularly in layman's terms. If someone writes erotica (their own), and uploads to Dropbox to share to an 18+ audience, can they do so? Same question applies to those who have made their own amateur or professional porn videos Same question applies for amateur/professional porn audio (recording masturbation, etc.) Same question applies for amateur/professional porn pictures (nudes, photoshoots, adult models, etc.) As long as the porn is not illegal (aka includes minors, animals, those who cannot give consent, etc.), and all parties involved in the MAKING of the adult content are 18+ and consent, can they still upload and share their adult content? Thanks for the help!Solved95KViews7likes2Comments
