Help! I have a client that uses Dropbox and has shared a folder with me (4 GB currently). In order to access the folder, Dropbox said I need to sign up for an account. I signed up for a free account but now Dropbox is saying I can't access the shared folder because it is too big. Do I really have to buy a silly account to access a folder that isn't even mine? This folder is the only thing I am going to use Dropbox for, so I really don't want to have to pay for something I don't personally need. I'm doing this work pro bono because they are a nonprofit and would hate for either of us to have to pay more than necessary to just access shared photos and videos of rescue animals. Thanks for the help!5KViews1like4CommentsWhy do shared files count against my space use???
Why are files shared with me counted against my space usage? Is this data counted twice? If someone who is sharing files with me is paying for this space, why should I have to pay as well just to access it? I am out of space, I have no intention of buying more space, and yet, when someone shares some files with me, I cannot access them and I am forced to buy space in order to access them. Why is this? Thank you.Solved25KViews4likes143CommentsDropbox taking up "other files" Disk Space on MacOS
Hey, I have an issue with the Dropbox Smart Synch function on my MacBook Pro M1 2020. Until recently everything worked just fine, I also have the "Smart-Synch-Update for Mac" Box checked in the settings. But now, when I synch a file or folder to "online only" it will do that and show, that the file has 0 Byte. But simultaneously my "other files" space in the MacOs Disk Space Tool increases so that I have about 250GB of "other files" on my system, that are no where to be found. Even if I search everything on my Mac there is no folder that is so big. Can anyone help me?3.1KViews1like13CommentsNot enough space to add a shared folder, but there should be enough space
Hi. I wanted to add a shared folder, but received a message telling me I don't have enough free space to do so. This surprised me because the folder has a size of 2 GB and I have 2 GB of free space - there is nothing else in my account that could take up any space. My colleagues who were invited to add the same folder & have the 2 GB Basic Dropbox Account just like me had no problems. How can I fix my problem?3.9KViews0likes15CommentsHow to set dropbox to automatically overwrite files for CCTV DVR sync
Hi, I have my Swann CCTV DVR connected to drop box to create copies of files. Every day I get a message on my DVR saying dropbox is full. How can I set dropbox up to automatically overwrite my files without continually showing me an error message that it is full? Many thanks1.5KViews0likes6CommentsCharged storage for shared content
Hello, I keep getting messages to upgrade my drop box because it’s full. My drop box account does not have any files stored in it, everything is shared from someone else’s premium Dropbox account. Why is it taking up space in my personal Dropbox and trying to charge me for the shared space and the person who is hosting the content for the same amount of space being used? They pay for the storage of their files and shared it with me why should I have to as well if they pay for it. It’s not being saved twice it’s being saved in their account?Solved1.9KViews1like7Comments
