Storage space
27 TopicsAll my files shows as 0 bytes both on desktop and website
Hi, I have been using DropBox for years. I recently had my laptop stolen and when I went to login to my DropBox it has told me that my DropBox has been full since April (without my knowing). Aside this however, nearly all of my documents (pre-dating April) now show as 0 bytes (on Dropbox through web and on desktop). I don't know how to get these files back. Given my DropBox storage had reached capacity in April, presumably all files before this were saved. Everytime I try and open there is nothing there !284Views0likes5CommentsCan't download files. Nothing happens.
Nothing happens when I try to download files. I've tried different kinds - docs, pictures, videos. Nothing happens. (No browser blocker, either). My work recently got rid of Dropbox (switched over to Teams - boo) so I lost a lot of my extra file GBs that came with a lot of sharing. Now I'm way over my GB limit and I was able to delete a few files but would like to download the rest and store elsewhere (external hard drive or print) but I can't download. Wondering if it's because I'm over my storage - but how can someone get below the storage if I can't download the docs!?150Views0likes1CommentIndividual user having trouble uploading documents to a Corporate Dropbox account
Hi, I have a free individual Dropbox membership. I'm a member of a local Rotary Club that has a Corporate Dropbox account. I'm able to access documents in the Rotary drop box (e.g. view documents, download document). However, I have not been able to upload documents into the Rotary Dropbox. I keep getting the error message that I need to upgrade my account to increase my storage. I've uploaded documents to other Corporate Dropbox accounts before without having to have a paid membership. any ideas why I'm having trouble with the Rotary Dropbox? Thanks,Solved2.1KViews0likes4CommentsBackup from Dropbox to External HD
I’d like to backup the entire contents of my large Dropbox account to an external hard drive. What is the best way to do this? Considerations: I have a complex web of folders and files, some of which are online-only and not. I’d like to keep the current setting of which are online-only and which are not. Syncing down in batches and copy-pasting onto the external is therefore not ideal. Backup methods like Time Machine don’t do much good with stub files like Dropbox’s online-only files. The size of my Dropbox contents exceeds the capacity of my local hard drive, so I can’t use it as a “middle-man”. There are apparently download limits on Dropbox web, so I don’t think I can just download it all directly to an external hard drive. One idea would be to make a new user on my Mac, sign into Dropbox, set the folder to the external HD, and sync everything down, but this seems risky and janky… Any ideas appreciated!8.7KViews1like23CommentsCan I download entire folders from the Dropbox app to my mobile device?
I'm New to using cloud based storage. I'm using Dropbox and onedrive right now and and have been organizing all my documents and pics intl file folders or albums, whichever you prefer to call them. So today dropbox has informed me I'm out of storage. So what I'm trying to figure out is how do I download a folder back to my hard drive? I can do it file by file but that defeats the purpose of all the work I've put into organizing everything. Am I missing something or was what I did a waste of time? It doesn't even ask me what folder I want to drop it into when I download a file. I cannot view my images in Dropbox because the app is telling me i’m out of space. These images are over 12 years old and are of my daughter. I’d like to be able to view the images in the app without upgrading but it won’t let me go any further without attempting to make me upgrade. I can see the images via the website but not via the app. Any suggestions at all? Many thanks in advance.682Views0likes4CommentsMove Files from Dropbox to external harddrive.

About a week ago, for some reason all my "online only" files in my dropbox computer app suddenly changed the file sizes from the actual sizes to "zero KB"... I have two different Mac computers running OS High Sierra, and it happened to both of them at about the same time. At my job I also have access to three other Macs, but they all still show the actual file sizes for "online only" files... so what is up with this "zero KB" on the two Macs that I use??? It makes it hard to work with online only files when I have no clue how large they are... online chat was unable to help me. here's a screenshot of what I see: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zhnt413jfrjyv4d/online-only-zeroKB.png?dl=0 The only way I can see the files sizes now is to download the files locally. If I then switch them back to "online only" the file sizes change back to "zero KB"4.1KViews1like28Comments
