Storage space
1780 TopicsMy extra quota promotion ended without notice
Hello community, I'm reaching out today because a few years ago, I got offered 50Gb of storage for free for an unlimited period of time. I am still using it until a few days ago, where I started to receive emails from Dropbox that I didn't have enough storage capacity (while I was only using around 15Gb out of the 50 available). Dropbox decided to remove the 50Gb offer without notice and now I have a risk to get my files deleted. How can I retrieve my 50Gb back? Thanks for your help!Solved16Views0likes4CommentsGetting messages that my storage is full - but it isn't
My dropbox capacity is 5GB. I cleared several items out of DB down to about 1GB. And yet, I still get incessant messages that I'm at 105% capacity (which I am not). I'm also not running any automatic file back-ups. Pardon my paranoia but this feels like ruse to get me to upgrade?27Views0likes6CommentsHigh RAM usage on Mac OS
Hello all, Dropbox user since decades back. I'm on Mac Silicon (M1 laptop, 8GB RAM). Dropbox takes up ≈5GB out of my 8. Obviously a problem, and googling around reveals that this has plagued Dropbox since at least 2021. I know there are thousands of users suffering from this, and I also know I can restart Dropbox every morning to keep it in check - but I was wondering if anyone actually found a longterm solution? Data: MacOS 11.6 8GB RAM Dropbox version 208.4.5824 Selective Sync on (Only sync about half of my folders) Amount of files in Dropbox: around 43'000 files&folders Most folders "online only" (to save HDD space) Dropbox Badge: off Symptom: RAM-usage after a Dropbox restart: ≈600MB. RAM-usage after 7 days: ≈4-6GB. (No major changes to Dropbox content during this period) Thanks in advance, / A351Views0likes6CommentsLost 6.25GB (of 15GB) from my quota when compared to yesterday's total
I have been a BASIC Dropbox user for years (Maybe 10?). I had accumulated 15GB via new users I had recommended as well as other bonus storage - all in addition to the initial 2GB and more. Yesterday I cleaned up (deleted) several GB to reduce usage 1.1GB in order to upload about 12GB. Today I logged into Dropbox to finish my project and noticed I now have ONLY 8.75GB of the 15GB of yesterday. ... What am I missing here - other than the storage space? ;-) Help, please. ... thanks a million (rather, thanks 6.25 Gigs)38Views0likes6CommentsI just bought Dropbox Plus but I don't have the extra quota
I subscribed to the Dropbox Plus plan, and as seen in the screenshot below, I tried joining a folder worth more than 2 GB, but I couldn't, stating that I have passed the storage limit, even if I technically have 2TB. Did someone have the same problem before? How may I fix this? This is of urgent matter. Thank you all in advance.17Views0likes7CommentsDeleting files to free up space should be reflected immediately
Deleting files to free up space should be reflected immediately on your Dropbox account. Why do I have to wait 12 hours to see the changes applied? If I reach the limit of my storage, that's what happens. I can't upload files because the system still thinks I'm full, when I'm not.42Views0likes1CommentDropbox folder in Mac HD taking up most of the space
I'm migrating from an iMac with Mojave to a mini with Sequoia. Time machine run well and installed everything smoothly (of course I have to update some of the apps to the new OS). It looks like Sequoia is not allowing creating folders inside Macintosh hd, so my folders's structure has to be reorganized. There's an issue limiting my flexibility in managing the situation: my dropbox folder is taking up space in Macintosh HD > Users > My Name > Dropbox Any advice? Thank you!13Views0likes1CommentI'm told I'm running out of space, but I have no files on my Dropbox account.
Received this email from dropbox. I have a basic account with nothing in my Dropbox folder "A quick note: We’re reaching out to notify you of your limited Dropbox capacity" Why am I getting this message. George28Views0likes3CommentsCreate a "Folder Owner" Option for Shared Folders to Designate Who Takes on Storage Space Burden
Forcing users of shared folders to have enough storage space to make their uploads appears to be a bad design choice, which just so happens to encourage subscription upgrades. Having to send separate links for a File Request and a View-Only Folder is needlessly convoluted. Please create an option for the owner of a shared folder to exclusively take on the burden of file space. I should not have to send my clients two separate links just for them to upload a file and then view the folder they uploaded to (without them getting warnings about their own storage allotment or their uploads denied). This inconvenience is so great that I am considering migrating to a different cloud storage platform.12Views0likes1Comment
