I can't see my folders in offline only mode on Mac OS 15.1
I have a new install on a Mac (Sequoia 15.1). I opted to keep all my folders offline on the install. However in the Mac finder no folders are visible, only individual folders. On the webapp they are all there. I want selective sync and decide after the install what I want kept locally.
File in Dropbox on my HP, but not in Dropbox on my iPhone 12
I have a cookbook in Dropbox so I can share it with my grandchildren. I created a new recipe today Potato Soup in Word and saved it to Dropbox. It shows up on my HP laptop where I created and saved it, but I went to Dropbox on my iPhone so I could create a link and text it to them, but it doesn't show up on my iPhone. The rest of the cookbook is on my iPhone.
"Smart" sync keeps downloading Online Only Files
I am growing increasingly frustrated with this so called "smart sync" feature Dropbox has recently introduced (or rather forced upon me). I have a number of files I've brought over to Dropbox using the finder on my Mac, that I have then marked as online only, in hopes that it would upload the files and then remove them from my local storage, which is limited. However Dropbox keeps randomly re-downloading the files to my system even after telling it that I want the files to be online only. This feature is supposed to "save hard disk space", which it does seem to do temporarily before it just starts downoading things again. It seems as though the only safe way to keep files from my drive is the old fashioned selective sync from preferences, but this is a backward way of working, especially when I want to have the folder show up on my local drive so I can bring files into it, but I may want those files to only live online. Has anyone found a solution to this abnormal behaviour (that, once again I might add, was forced on us as justification to increase the price of the paid service)?
Alias Folders
I had to re-sync Dropbox recently and when I sync the app on my iMac Dropbox creates locked alias folders for Desktop, Downloads and Documents. Do I have to wait for the files to sync and the localize the files fromDesktop, Downloads and Documents? I want these folders to be on my local computer not aliases that link to Dropbox
Files from a different device don't appearing on my other device.
Hi, so I've moved some screenshots and .mkv recordings in the Dropbox folder from my windows 11 pro laptop and for some reason even if I refresh the page or even restart my phone the screenshots and the videos both don't appear and I don't know why this happens because a few months ago it worked just fine! Also I do not have Dropbox subscriptions because I only have Dropbox basic and I don't have Dropbox teams aswell as it's just me. One user using this tool, any help?How long does it take to switch a file from Local to Online-only?
I uploaded a file that was 140Go by simply copying into my Dropbox folder and waiting for it to sync. It took about 5 days as I have 100Mbs on the download but 10Mbs on the upload only with my Spectrum connection. Now I wanted to save space on my computer and switched it to "Online-only" but it's been two days and it still says "Downloading filename"... How long am I supposed to wait? If I knew I would have to do the same thing twice, I would have selected "Always upload online-only" from the beginning... I thought that once it is synced on the Dropbox folder, it wouldn't take too long to switch to Online-only... Any thoughts? Thank you for your help.
