Sync
81 TopicsMy hard drive is full even though I've set my folder to be online-only
Agreed to the new Mac Folders and the sync tells me my hard drive is full and I have all of my folders set for Make online only. Everything shows clouds but when I check my hard driveutility it says all space is taken and normally half my drive is clear. I clearedcache but no help. This is the second time a full sync like this has happened in 2 days.Solved592Views0likes16CommentsI don't see all my files on www.dropbox.com and I'm running out of hard drive space.
I spent nearly 2 hours with customer support and they said they needed to escalate my case to someone else. The someone else sent me a link to the general Dropbox information to read through volumes of documents to figure it out myself. My hard drive is nearly full and when I go to delete files on my computer, I am being prompted to say the files will also be deleted from Dropbox. What the??? Can anyone help me? I am at wits end. Also, when I click on the shortcut on my homepage, I can see all of my files. When I go to Dropbox.com, none of them are there. I am missing something here...help!!194Views0likes2CommentsDropbox keeps forgetting online-only settings
I'm a very long time user of dropbox and I'm ready to quit. I have some very large folders - 30GB or more that I keep setting to online-only. Then a few days later I'm out of disk space and I find that the files are taking up actual disk again. I change the folders to online only and the space clears for a few days, then the cycle starts again. During this time Dropbox is also working continuously. Is there a solution?323Views0likes7CommentsWhy do my Dropbox files also take up space from my hard drive?
OK I know this probably seems like a dumb question, but bear with me... I am cleaning up storage on my PC and I see that Dropbox is taking up a huge chunk of memory on my hard drive. But I thought Dropbox was in the cloud. What gives? Is everything I put into Dropbox being saved to two places?390Views0likes4CommentsTo upload 200 GB of files, do I need to use my hard drive space?
I purchased the business plan. My question is very specific: to upload 200 GB of information, do I have to use the space on a device? What happens if I don't have space on that device? Can't I simply upload it to the cloud, like a server, without using the capacity of my computer?333Views0likes5CommentsMy Dropbox space is full and my files stopped syncing
Files from my dropbox are only partially synched, I have stop started the app, I have reinstalled. nothing fixed it. I am using the default app setup. no space or any other mac resources related issues. please note that I have exceeded the online storage space and I am doing this to free some space but I do not think that this issue is related. My mac: M1 Pro OS: 14.6.1 Can you please advice? Thank you, Meir1.4KViews0likes4CommentsCan I have the same files on two different computers with different hard drive sizes?
I should be really grateful for some foolproof advice please - that is, so I cannot mess it up. My iMac has a nice big 2TB hard drive and every file sits on it within the Dropbox folder in Finder. My MacBook has only a relatively small hard drive and I have been too nervous to install the Dropbox app. So instead, I have to download from the Dropbox webpage whatever I need to work on and then upload it back when I have finished - all very time consuming. I'd very much like to install Dropbox on my MacBook in such a way that a few selected folders which I need regularly automatically sync - they would then be on the MacBook's hard drive and if I amend them, that change would automatically happen online too. And to have the rest of the folders visible in Finder even though not on the MacBook's hard drive so that I can easily open them when I need (provided that I have internet access at the time) I think this is possible and, if so, I'd be really grateful for a step by step instruction in simple language ! Thanks so much340Views0likes3CommentsHow to move files from my laptop to dropbox to free up storage on laptop?
I found some useful answers below: could some explain how to use Selective Sync? Thanks If you want to save space on your local drive then you can use Selective Sync to remove the local copy of certain folders. Just know that you'll only be able to access those folders through the Dropbox website if you remove them from your computer. Also, make sure that a folder is completely synced (green check mark) before you remove it with Selective Sync.Solved294Views0likes2CommentsMaking space on my computer with online-only files
My computer has ran out of space. The space is taken up by DropBox. I used the hard drive manager to set some files to online only, I think I even set some folders that way. There are check marks and it said it did that, but it didn't give me the space that it said it would create. I am unsure if this is because DropBox has not had room to Sync? Or some other reason. I don't need all my files to be accessed on my Computer, and I can't figure out how to make things work again : Any ideas?410Views0likes1Comment
