71 TopicsMove or copy photos from iPhone or iCloud to Dropbox
I’m using the latest iOS 12 release, and the latest version of the Dropbox iOS app, on my iPhone X. I have over 7,000 photos on my iPhone; they are also synced to my iCloud. (The volume consists of pretty much every photo I’ve ever had on an iPhone, beginning with an iPhone 4S.) Having this number of photos on my iPhone has been making my iPhone quite sluggish. I tried using the Dropbox iOS app’s built-in feature to copy or move the photos to one of my Dropbox folders; but, on each attempt, the Dropbox iOS app hangs, after moving anywhere from few hundred to a couple of thousand photos. I then opened the iCloud app in Windows 10, intending to copy the photos en masse to Dropbox, then, once the move was confirmed, erase the photos from my iCloud. (I also tried this through accessing my iCloud via Google Chrome.) I can’t seem to select more than 1 photo at a time, in my iCloud photos area. As you can imagine, selecting over 7,000 photos, one at a time, is not feasible. Thank u VERY much, peeps, for any help with this! 🙂44KViews4likes3CommentsTurn automated file deletion into "Make online-only" by default
Hello, I use security cameras for research. The cameras are set up to save video recordings directly onto a PC (Windows 11) on the same local network. The folder where videos are saved is inside my Dropbox folder, and the desktop Dropbox client syncs automatically. Videos are therefore automatically uploaded to Dropbox once each file finishes being recorded. This works great. The issue I am having is related to the capacity of the local hard drive. The security camera management software is set to automatically delete the oldest videos whenever it runs out of storage space, so that it has somewhere to save new videos. This causes these oldest videos to be deleted not only from my local drive, but also from the Dropbox account (Dropbox for Business). I would like to configure Dropbox to instead treat this automated deletion the same as if I used the "Make online-only" option on desktop, i.e. allow the local videos to be deleted as needed by the camera management software, but retain all backups in the online Dropbox. Is this possible? I'd like to be able to do this while simultaneously retaining as much recent video on the local drive as possible, because we often work with these local video files. This means that making older videos online-only in advance is not really the answer I'm looking for. Thank you!Solved1.6KViews2likes5CommentsLinking Excel files in Dropbox
We just switched to Dropbox for Business. We have several Excel files with formulas that link to other Excel files all saved in a shared folder. With our local server the links would work for every user the same. Now with using Dropbox, the link will work for one user and not for another user. If the 2nd user changes the file path to make the link work for them, then it will no longer work for the first user. How do we make it so all users in the shared file can open the Excel file and have the links update without having to change the file path for each user?Solved13KViews2likes3CommentsExcel file changes not being saved
Hi, I use an Excel file saved to a folder in my Dropbox. This is accessed by two colleagues both of whom use Office for Mac as do I (Office 365 in two cases, not sure if one is standalone Office for Mac or 365) In any event, though I successfully save changes to the file, when one of my colleagues accesses the file later it's as if I've never edited it at all. I see from a 2018 community post/reply that Excel files in Dropbox can only be edited successfully using Office online. Is this still true? If this is the case, I'm disappointed that this is not made clear in some way for users of DropBox (perhaps an alert for any .xls or .xlsx files saved) because I suspect that a lot of people have lost data as a result. So I guess the question is, is the problem of not being able to edit Excel files with the desktop version of Excel still true? Cheers Iain6.8KViews2likes15CommentsDrop Box Files Opening in New Tab

Hello, a few days ago Dropbox blocked my access to the data of an expense tracking app that I have been using for years, stating that someone other than me had tried to access it and that the block was for security reasons. Nobody else was trying to access it, it was actually me who accidentally triggered the security measure. I have contacted Dropbox twice to ask for my data to be restored, but they are not taking any action and are referring me to the chat. I believe that if they blocked my access, they should be the ones to unblock it. It is very important for me to recover this data. I am seeking help. Thank you very much.712Views1like1CommentCan no longer save current or new MS word or excel file on dropbox with android devices.
