Integration Issue with Dropbox link placement
When trying to integrate a Dropbox-hosted file into my platform, I encountered an issue with generating and sharing the direct download link. While Dropbox provides a shareable URL, the default link redirects users to a preview page instead of triggering an automatic download. For seamless integration, I need a direct download link that eliminates extra steps for the user. Steps I followed: Uploaded the file to Dropbox successfully. Generated the shareable link (format: https://www.dropbox.com/s/uniqueid/filename?dl=0). Modified the link to ?dl=1 for direct download. However, when embedding the modified link into my platform, some users report errors like broken downloads or file inaccessibility. Is there a way to ensure consistent, reliable direct downloads for all users through Dropbox?
Generate a unique email address for "Email to Dropbox" based on usernames.
For Emailing to Dropbox, they use a 5 random-word list model... so something like: ecology.tastey.pillow.depth.example @addtodropbox.com There is a big problem with this... both for Dropbox and their users.It's a nightmare to use. Try telling a client that URL. Result: NONE USE. They should use a user generated model with tight guidelines. so Something like: DigitalMarketing1000@ or RickStark100@ Easy to Pick a winner - easy for the user to use. THAT is what we want. There is easily a million easy options for both users above. So why do they do it? This model is easy for the IT department - the computer geeks decided... not the marketing dept. / user advocates. If DB is looking for EASE OF USE for their CUSTOMERS... then go to the trouble of user created addresses. Their current model is EASY FOR THEM... but poo for the user. Let me ask you: Do these super-duper-really-long-multi-word-URLS-seem-very-usable-to-you dot question? Do they seem like they would be popular to users to you? If your answer is NO - then THAT is why adoption is low for emailing to dropbox and I and millions of others don't use it. Switch to a tougher (user-generated address), but better for the consumer, model. Go for usable... which is above functional. Thoughts? Support? Hi, I have a free dropbox account and have used it for years to store a few basic excel spreadsheets that I use daily. I have a paid Microsoft 365 account that I use on my android phone and lenovo laptop. For some reason the last few days, I am unable to open my dropbox excel spreadsheets on my phone. When I try to open the spreadsheet I get a log in page saying "Log in or sign up to Dropbox to link with Microsoft Office Integration". I log in using my dropbox user and pw and it just sends me to my onedrive. I have tried deleting the dropbox and 365 apps on my phone and re installing and logging in. I have tried to open the dropbox files by going into excel first and then trying to open the dropbox spreadsheet. Just always sends me to the log in page. It all works fine on my laptop, and after saving, my dropbox android app shows the newly updated spreadsheet. Dont know what has happened. Please help.
Team folders in Power Automate have stopped working after 20/04/2024 upgrade
Since the upgrade to Dropbox on the 20/04/2024 we have encountered a number of issues with apps and programs that utilise Dropbox. Rather than confusing the issue, the first of these relates to Microsoft power automate. The team Dropbox folders that are shared with me and monitored by this program have now disappeared. The only Dropbox folders I can see our my specific folders, and not those that I have access to as part of a team. In my DBL Dropbox desktop folder I have my profile folder and then I have access to all the team folders that I am part of. I can access these on my desktop and online without an issue. The problem I have is that if I am trying to access these team folders through any other software, they are not visible following the upgrade on 20 April? This is causing major issues and I assume that there is a setting that needs to be changed for me and my colleagues? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
