How can I find the total number of files in a folder?
Boy, am I disappointed with Dropbox. I assumed that each folder would display the number of files in that folder, without me jumping through all kinds of hoops. This seems not to be the case, however... Did anyone come up with a nifty solution to this problem?Solved41KViews5likes25Comments

When I open my files in Dropbox via dropbox.com, I can't edit them.... I don't get any message, but it seems they are converted into pdf files - when I had them on my Mac, they weren´t. I just uploaded all files from my Mac, since they would not syncronice.. (thats another problem, which I believe has a solution I don't really understand from your explanation at the site. Cannot save changes to Microsoft Word Online documents in shared Dropbox folders.
Greetings. The issue. Any MS Word document that I create in a shared Dropbox folder or add to the folder cannot be edited in Word Online without getting the following error message: Couldn't save latest changes. To avoid losing the highlighted changes, copy and paste them into the document in a new tab. The message is in a yellow banner at the top of the document. Specs. I'm running Firefox Developer Edition 114.0b9 (64-bit) under Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye) x86_64. I have a free "Basic" Dropbox account, and a free Microsoft account (no 365 license). Things I've tried. I've tried logging into my Microsoft account, reloading Word Online, and trying again. I even tried recreating the entire document when signed in to my Microsoft account. I've tried creating the document in another subfolder of the shared folder. I've tried different formats, including ODT, DOCX and DOC. I've tried adding MS Word files to my shared folder in different ways, that is: By using the Dropbox web interface and its "Create" dropdown; By copying and pasting a file into the shared folder, again using the Dropbox web interface; By adding the file to the synced folder on my Linux system. I've tried setting the share options in Word Online to "Anyone with [the] link can edit". After each of all these different attempts, I would reload the document and try to change the file again, with no success. I would also close the tab and reopen the document afresh from the Dropbox interface. Even after doing this, the same error appears a few seconds after making any change, whatever that be, to the file. Some examples of different changes I've tried making to the document include adding text, removing text, changing the spell check language for the document as a whole, changing the font of some or all of the text, adding comments, and so forth. Doing even a single one of these changes results in the error described earlier, meaning that the number of changes made to the files is unrelated to the problem, as opposed to what some have suggested online on other forums. A quick search on the internet shows that many people are complaining about the very same issue to Microsoft, although Microsoft staff argue that this is a Dropbox-related problem, and don't suggest any working fixes. I say this in all due respect to both Microsoft and Dropbox staff and community, and am not accusing anyone for the problems I am experiencing. It is noteworthy that this error does not occur when creating or adding an MS Word file to an unshared Dropbox folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated. God bless.Solved24KViews0likes3Comments
How can I stream a video to my website from Dropbox but from dropbox online?
Hi Guys, So I will try and explain best I can. I use a widget within wordpress (on my site) calledFV Flowplayer Video Player that allows me to embed videos like this. What I do is copy the link of the video I want to stream and I paste it in FV Player, I change the end of the link from '?dl=0' to '?raw=1', I am not exactly sure why but without this the video won't play. Anyway, without that out of the way you can see what I am doing, but because over time this will take up lots of space on my desktop I want to know how I can stream a video from my online dropbox account like this? I want to store these very large video files in dropox cloud, maybe a public folder on my online account? When I click on files on the Dropbox website in Chrome, the page shows loading symbols, but then goes blank as soon as it finishes loading, and doesn't display the document, or even an error message. This happens with DOCX and PPT files, but not PDF (suggesting maybe it's an issue with the online editing part of the system?). My files open correctly in other browsers. Microsoft Word Online works fine with non-Dropbox files. ETA: This worked fine until about a week ago it abruptly stopped working. I haven't added any plugins or changed any Chrome settings since then, although I have had a Windows update which I think may have lined up with when it stopped working?Solved19KViews0likes9Comments
I can't see an option to delete photos from the Photos directory
Ok, read threads that say "Delete" is there and I still don't see it. I do on the "Files" screen, but not the Photos directory. Looking online in Firefox, I get NO option to delete a photo when selected. Been this way since the "change". So Dropbox is forcing us to use apps on our devices then to delete photo backups? I use the web with my company computer to share and manage photos from my company phone. I cannot put the apps on my company devices and need to be able to delete online. Please advise.
