I would much prefer to have the files and folders presented in a file manager tree view rather than having half of the screen taken up with preview thumbnails of recent files. The current layout is frustrating to work with, especially when working collaboratively as it encourages poor file management practices. I want my Dropbox interface to be clear and functional, not fun.116Views1like4CommentsAllow hiding individual photos of folders from the Photos tab
The Photos Folder is not a useful tool if we are not able to decide what shows up there. I am using Dropbox to back up a Mac, so photos that are on my Mac are in those backups and also stored in other folders on Dropbox. Therefore, in the Photos Folder there are duplicate copies of each of those photos. I cannot delete either as they are on Dropbox for different purposes - one as a backup and one as part of my photo organization system in Dropbox. Without the ability to hide photos from my Photos Folder, I will need to find another way to organize my photos.24KViews46likes23CommentsExpand left sidebar width on the website
I need tobe able expand the left sidebar width. I have many levels of files and I can not see the names of folders that I want to move files into. Because of the narrowness, all I can see is the first letter of some folders, and none of others!. I want to be able to expand the left sidebar so I can see the names of those folders and not just the first letter. We use DB for work and at third level DB starts cutting off folder names and our names aren't even that long. By the 4th level, where we start putting images/docs by client name, job, or product, I can only see a few letters and it makes keeping stuff organized very difficult.794Views2likes8CommentsOption to create or edit plain Text or Markdown documents
I would have thought that the ability to create/edit plain text (*.txt) documents is extremely basic, and something that would be very useful for note taking, documenting the content of a folder and many more things. However this seems to be not supperted either in the Android or the Web app. Something that has become a standard on many cloud-based sites is to also support Markdown documents (*.md) which are like text documents but can be viewed in a formatted nice way. This is also not supported but would be extremely useful to have in the Android and Web apps.1KViews5likes3CommentsShared link bandwidth monitor for Dropbox users to prevent breaking bandwidth limits
A tool designed to monitor real-time bandwidth usage for Dropbox users, aimed at preventing the maximum limit of 1TB from being reached. This solution sends customizable alerts when bandwidth consumption reaches critical thresholds (e.g., 75%, 90%) and provides detailed daily or weekly reports. This way, users can proactively manage their service usage, ensuring continuous access without interruptions due to exceeding the bandwidth limit.112Views0likes2CommentsDefault sorting by date taken on the photos page on the website
Hey Dropbox Team, This is a request for an enhancment of the Photo Viewer interface. I love this feature because i typically group my photos in many differnt folders by theme which makes viewing all my photos across a timeline difficult to do without opening all of those different folders. The issue I have is that, the default sort for the Photo Viewer interface is by "Date Uploaded." This seems like the least helpful sort field when trying to view your photos across time. It seems like the obvious default metadata to sort on for photos taken over time would be "Date Taken." I will often wait months and even years before uploading all of my photos in a single day, in which case the Photo Viewer interface will display years of photos attributed to the day they were uploaded which is useless when looking back on them. Could you change this default to view photos by "Date Taken" and NOT "Date Uploaded" or could you provide a toggle to allow sorting by different Metadata fields? Really appreciate it and thank you for your consideration. Payden Waldo160Views0likes3CommentsEmbed a video into a webpage
I'd love to have a feature that can embed/stream videos from a webpage. I specifically use Squarespace, and I pay a whole other service (Vimeo) to host these videos. So I'd be willing to pay extra add-on for this, just so I don't have to use Vimeo (now that they're charging a ridiculous amount for the value you get).263Views9likes5CommentsWhite Label File Requests
It is great that we can customise the branding on File Requests now, however it would be even better to have a white label option. We use File Requests as a core part of our service, and if we could white label these so they appear on a subdomain of ours or can be embedded onto our website, with minimal or no mention of Dropbox, that would be very useful. It would also be beneficial to have control over fonts and all colors (e.g. Add Files button) on the File Request page.1.3KViews3likes3CommentsOption to link multiple Dropbox team accounts on the same device
Problem: Our Managing Director manages multiple organizations, each with separate Dropbox Business accounts. Since there’s no option to switch between business accounts easily, he has to repeatedly sign out and sign in to access each account. This is time-consuming, inconvenient, and disrupts workflow—especially during critical moments when quick access to files across both accounts is needed. Proposed Solution: Introduce a business account switching feature similar to the existing personal account switching functionality. This would allow users to connect multiple Dropbox Business accounts and switch between them seamlessly without having to log out and log in each time. Key Benefits: Increased Productivity: No more interruptions from logging in and out multiple times a day. Users can quickly access the files they need from any account. Improved User Experience: A simplified workflow for professionals and business leaders who oversee multiple organizations. Enhanced Collaboration: Easier access to shared resources across accounts, benefiting not only executives but also team members who might work across multiple business entities. This feature would be valuable for executives, consultants, or managers who work with multiple businesses and need streamlined access to their Dropbox accounts for efficient multitasking.189Views0likes1Comment
