I deleted all files in my personal Dropbox account, then moved a couple gigs of files into it from my work Dropbox account. It took a little while to move the files but has been completed for a couple days but I have a persistent working icon showing and it says "Indexing 4 files...". How do I determine which files it is supposedly still indexing, or if it is just hung up for some reason? I told it to show me any Sync issues and it says I have no sync issues. I have quit/restarted several times. Running Windows10.22Views0likes1CommentDo I need to manually make a file online-only again, after making it offline to edit it?
Just to confirm – On windows Dropbox uses symlink to make a reference to a file when “smart sync” is in effect — so on the first access to that file, the DB (windows) client will fetch the file from dropbox.com. Once the file is downloaded to the client, I can then process the file. After I finish processing the file, is it by design that it remains on the client, so if I want to free up the space, what would I have to do to free up the space that the file is using? Now other cloud storage systems like Gmail/GDrive and pcloud use a virtual drive so that unless I set cache or local folder that file is just in the cloud.25Views0likes4CommentsI can't paste the screenshots I capture on Windows
For some reason I cannot pate the screenshots after I press "Print Screen". I have dropbox on my pc set to copy link when image is ready and then there is a pop up on the bottom right when I take a picture and it says "press ctrl+v to copy" BUT IT DOESN'T work at all!434Views0likes43CommentsThe syncing icons no longer appear on my Windows desktop app.
Hi everyone! At this time the icons of synchronization status are not shown, it is inconvenient, at the first installation of the old version of Dropbox 199.4.6287 Offline Installer.x64 icons were shown, but after the update did not show. In this case, the recommendations of the site DROPBOX I implemented, and on this forum no solutions found. What do I need to do to get the sync icons to show up like the outdated Dropbox for Windows 10 and 11? Thank you for your answers!54Views0likes6CommentsSome files/folders don't sync from the web to my Windows desktop app.
Dear all, I need some help to get my files to synced on my laptop. I'm using Windows 11, and the icon in the task bar informs me that all my files are up to date (properly synced). The windows explorer says that some (not all) dropbox folders haven't synced yet. Everything looks fine on the website. Some files and folders are on the website but not on my hard drive. I have not exceeded the storage limit. I've used Windows7 to create the files and folders that are not syncining. So there shouldn't be a problem with characters. How can I get the files to sync on my Windows11 laptop? I've tried restarting the computer. I've tried stopping and restarting the synchronization. All help is much appreciated, JuergenSolved62Views0likes2CommentsDropbox not syncing files across devices
I’ve been using Dropbox to store and sync important media files for my Sellvia store, but lately, I’ve noticed that some files aren’t syncing properly across my devices. I’ve tried restarting the app, checking my internet connection, and even reinstalling Dropbox, but the issue persists. I can see my files when I log in through the web, but they’re not updating on my desktop or mobile app. I’m using Windows 11 and the latest Dropbox version. Has anyone else faced this issue? Any tips on how to fix it?28Views0likes1CommentMy Windows desktop app got updated and my files are no longer available offline.
My Dropbox (Essentials) recently updated to v219.4.4463. After the update, it started syncing or indexing a large number of files, even though I didn’t change any of my settings. Since then, the sync icons for files and folders in Windows 11 Explorer no longer make sense. My default setting is 'Always available on this device', which should display the green circle with a checkmark, but a lot of old files now show the 'Available on this device' icon (white circle with a green checkmark). Additionally, many folders display the 'Sync pending' icon (blue arrows in a circle). However the taskbar status shows 'Your files are up to date', and there are no reported syncing issues. 'Save hard drive space automatically' is turned off, and the default setting for new files is 'Available offline'.87Views0likes11CommentsPrint screen not saving screenshots on Windows 11 23H2
Old laptop with Win 10, press print screen and it saves the screenshot in my screenshot folder no problem. New laptop has Win 11 on it. I disable the Use Print Screen to open screen capture in the OS keyboard settings, I have the save screen shots directly option toggled on in dropbox/backup settings. I have turned it off and on, I have killed the dropbox app and restarted it. Still doesnt work. Any plans to fix this issue? Kind of a big deal been using this feature for years and if it no longer works this might force me to use a different solution for my cloud needs.Solved60Views0likes3CommentsWindows 11 takes more than 1 hour to shutdown if running Dropbox desktop app
Hello, I have the "Plus" version of Dropbox, with the desktop app installed on a Win11 machine. All drivers and updates completely up to date. When running Dropbox, and trying to shutdown, the Win11 machine takes over an hour to shutdown. !!! If Dropbox is not running, the same machine shuts down in about 1 minute. The issue seems to be unique to this machine, my other machine with Dropbox installed seems to work "normally", and shuts down in a normal amount of time also. Windows File Explorer indexing is disabled (per suggestions found online). Having indexing on or off hasn't made any difference. My current Dropbox usage is (after paring this down a little): 1.77 tb (with a limit of 2 tb), 348K files across 35K folders. I'm a commercial photographer, and most of the Dropbox storage is for my active Lightroom catalog. The catalog itself is 1.45 tb 65K files One other indicator that all is not right: syncing files on this machine seems to be hung. It's been trying to sync about 40 files for 2 days, something that should take a couple of minutes. Network speed: 600 mbps down, 20mbps up. Dropbox files are stored on an external USB 4tb drive (about 50% full). Performance on this drive is slow, but not sure why. Not sure if the drive is the cause of the issue, or if it's a victim of something else that's going on. Looking for help please... Thank you!25Views0likes1CommentThere's no option to share a link via the Dropbox desktop app on Windows 11
It appears that MS has updated something and my option to share dropbox link in the file explorer is no longer available. Does anyone know a work around or if there is a setting that needs to be re-done? Thank you718Views1like12Comments
