Hello, I'm running a PC with windows 8.1. Dropbox has been running fine for years Today I had to uninstall dropbox and when I tried to reinstall it, (after cleaning up de leftovers). I got stuck on a pretty blue logo going around after logging in while the greyed-out Dropbox icon in the taskbar reads "waiting to be linked to a dropbox account". I've been all day uninstalling, reinstalling, doing advanced re-installation as per your instructions, etc. to no aval. I've gone through every single post in the search results below: Search - Dropbox Community (dropboxforum.com) Please, don't give me the same instructions again. I am really frustrated because I have no way to work with my collaborators. I hope you can help me.Solved4.2KViews0likes9CommentsMy Mac is stuck at "Syncing" after updating my OS.
Dropbox icon is saying "Syncing . . . " forever. I upgraded macOS to the latest version (15.3.1) and restarted the machine. (I don't know how to update Dropbox .) "View sync issues" says "You don't have any sync issues." How can one diagnose what's going wrong?102Views0likes19CommentsThe desktop app won't launch on Mac OS
I can no longer open the app on either of my two MacBooks (both running Sonoma 14.7.2), and my files are not syncing. I have uninstalled and reinstalled app on both several times and restarted devices to no avail. Icon no longer appears in the menu bar and clicking on icon in Lauchpad or Finder does nothing. Any and all advice appreciated!30Views0likes2CommentsI'm trying to back up 100GB of files to Dropbox, but it's super slow.
Hi there, I just started using Dropbox to backup 100 Gb of an external drive on the Cloud plus a few Gb from the system drive. I'm on Macbook & Sonoma 14.7.2 + Dropbox Desktop App. I've noticed that sometime the uploading process is not moving...or super slow for like hours, an entire night. Then suddenly in 2 hours it uploads 20% of the whole folder. Then again...super slow progress or no progress for hours, even if it indicates that is syncing. My connection is good, I'm also uploading parallel backups on Google Drive without problems. I tried stopping and resuming the sync without any significant effect. Since I'm going to use Dropbox mainly to backup, I need to know if this is a standard behaviour, a kinda limitation on the bandwidth or if not, cause when you have to upload some big amount of data, wasting one night of upload with no progress at all it's not cool. Windows 11, fully updated, Dropbox Plus version 218.4.4348 (which appears to be latest version as I downloaded and installed ?most recent" update from Dropbox and it was the same). Still shows "Updating 2 files" constantly. Everything else seems fine, and file syncing does not seem to be impacted. I have read of others having this issue for a while now, on prior versions. (In fact, I hade the same issue with a prior version, plus scores of update popups that didn't update anything with a prior version, but it seemed to be fixed with an update...until this recurrence of the "Updating 2 files" issue.) Seems like the next version of Dropbox might want to actually fix this issue...please.54Views0likes3CommentsA file that appears in the desktop tray window on my taskbar is not in my Dropbox account
I opened the Dropbox icon that appears in the hidden icons section of the taskbar and found a file that I did not recognize. It was an .exe file! I tried several times over several days to delete the file but the only option I was offered was to "open" the file. When I "open" this file Dropbox says it uploaded by someone I don't recognize but appears to be related to program I occasionally run. How do I get rid of this file.10Views0likes1CommentmacOS background items and system files. Can I delete these?
On macOS Sequoia 15.3.1, Dropbox 217.4.4417 just made some install changes/updates, but it is not clear what. In System Settings/General/Login Items & Extensions, I have the Dropbox.app in Open at Login and Dropbox (with the blue logo) and Dropbox, Inc. (with no logo) in Allow in the Background. Can someone please advise the specific purpose of each of these different install items and if they can be removed if their purpose is not needed for my user requirements. Thank-you.79Views0likes6CommentsInDesign is not synchronizing liked files automatically anymore on Mac OS
We are an agency and have a lot of Indesign-Files. The folders where the liked files are, are set on "only online" per default because they are huge. Until now, when opening the Indesign-File, Indesign automatically synchronised all the liked documents, so that they were available offline. (The status automatically changed from "online only" to "available offline"). We made some updates and this is not working anymore! We are currently on MacOS Sequoia 15.3.1 (24D70), Dropbox v218.4.4348, and Indesign 20.1 Synchronising each file manually is not an option, because the liked files are almost always over 200 different pictures in more than different 100 different Sub-Folders. (And we can also not synchronise the whole folder, because there are a lot of other huge files that we do not need and would fill up way too much space.) We do not want to package the linked files all in one place, because the liked files should stay in their root folders, as they are used for a lot of different things and must be managed globally. Until now it always worked! What happened, so that this does not work anymore? This is crucial for our company and was always an important reason why we chose to use Dropbox. Is there no fix?33Views0likes3CommentsMac Finder continues to show large size of Dropbox Folder despite everything being online-only
Hi, everyone. Thanks in advance for your help, wisdom, and support. I have a problem several others have experienced, but none of the solutions I found here seem to be working. Simply put, I have around 300 GB in my Dropbox folder and have everything set to be online only (or so I assume?) Mac finder is still showing this 300 GB as being used, and it is affecting other uses that require a lot of space (video editing, audio sample packages, etc.) I do need that space back. "Space Lens" in CleanMyMac shows the proper amount of space used ( a bit under 500 GB of my 1TB built-in drive on my MacBook Pro M1. Here are the specs: Macbook Pro M1; 16GB RAM; 1Tb drive OS: Sonoma 14.5 Dropbox Desktop Version: 204.4.5420 I have searched the Dropbox folder for the ".dropbox.cache" file, but it does not exist. Here is a screenshot of the only files that appear after invoking "shift-command-.": Here is a screenshot (blurred for privacy concerns) of what the folder's directory looks like. Unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't all of these files be online only?: The Dropbox directory resides in the "Cloudstorage" in the Library, which is precisely where I believe it should be. Any help or insight the community can offer would be tremendously appreciated. Many thanks in advance! JS1.9KViews0likes16CommentsDropbox client refuses to run on Windows 11 & re-installation failure
Dropbox auto-run on Windows Startup is always enabled but nothing runs. Manually clicking on dropbox.exe does nothing either: nothing running on taskbar nothing syncs, nothing running in file explorer (No "sync status icon" on explorer. Right-clicking on files does not show any dropbox-related menu. Trying to reinstall but the installer (both online and offline installers) won't even work. Running the installer "Dropbox 218.4.4348 Offline Installer.x64.exe" gives the error message: "Dropbox installer unable to extract application files" and then "error code: 535887868" Windows 11 is the latest update version. Dropbox usually works fine on this laptop but from time to time it behaves this bizarre frustrating way. This time it's stopped working for 2 days already and it is going to create a big file conflict problem if I can't sync this laptop with my desktop. Anyone, please help. Thank you!19Views0likes1Comment
