Get an option to prioritize syncing for folders on the desktop app.
Dropbox currently has an option to prioritize which files to sync first. I'd like to extend that to provide the same functionality for selected folders. This will be particularly helpful in migrating to new equipment but also when changing a large amount of content. Can do?
Sync Dropbox across Multiple Drives
This topic has been posted before....but the function is still badly needed. I have a business account with 4.5 TB of data. I need to have that data available offline for multiple reasons. Some of that data for simply long term storage. Other portions are for daily use in our business. We desperately need a way to span our personal and team data across more than 1 drive. Long term data can be stored on a standard mechanical drive, while daily access folders can be stored on SSD drives for better performance and drive space management. These has been a need for well over 10 years.
Open shared links directly in native app
A few years have passed since this request and as a business this would save us allot of time and irritation. As a company we share daily hundreds of links to files via Microsoft Teams with each other. Now the situation is as follow: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on the link 3 browser opens the link to the file 4 user clicks on 'open in dropbox' button Ideal situation would be that admins and users have a File open preference, where links to files can directly open in the native apps: 1 link is shared 2 team member clicks on it and the file is synced and opened in the native app Microsoft Teams has a great solution to this problem for Office-applications, called File open preference, see screenshot. It would be great if Dropbox could also build this feature in it's Dropbox-apps.
Add .dropboxignore directory to exclude folders without using selective sync
Please please please can you add a feature that allows folders to be excluded from the Dropbox account (on windows and mac). For sure I'm not the first person to request this, but I'm yet to find a good explanation of why it's not there. A quick google search reveals loads of people also looking for the same feature. I really like the workflow I have with dropbox, but it's getting to the point where I might switch providers in order to allow better selective sync. I've seen hackish solutions using selective sync, but it would be great if this could be done in one of the following ways: - global pattern matching eg "node_modules" - a marker file in the directory like .dropboxignore - a simple right click context menu "Ignore this folder" Other than that, keep up the good work. Command line code to switch between "Allow offline access" and "Online only" instead of mouse clicks
It would be nice to be able to switch between "allow offline access" and "online only" on the command line instead of using the mouse. For example, "% dropbox -offline_accsess true file1,file2,file3...", "% dropbox -offline_accsess false file1,file2,file3..." Once this is done, it is possible to treat files from the application in much the same way as if they were stored locally, while saving disk space by making them "online only".
Automatically pause Dropbox Backup/syncing to allow unmounting of external drive.
Stop Dropbox from preventing unmounting of drives that are currently being backed up. Instead pause backup and allow unmounting. Resume backup when drive is mounted again. (Same behavior could maybe be implemented for sync (Dropbox folder), but at least for backup of external drives.) Backblaze does this, so it's clearly possible.Option to pause the Dropbox desktop from syncing for 5 minutes
Hello, Can you please add an option to pause Dropbox for 5 minutes? 15 is sometimes too much, and wouldn't hurt to add another option. Also, I would classify the option in an inverted order than the actual, so the option "indefinitely" would stay as far as the box icon as possible, and the new 5 minutes option would be the one closer, and after 15 minutes and so on.
