I'm really really disappointed with Dropbox over the last several years. I had an enormous issue as did others with preview of images and photos on my laptop which after a multi-year discussion on this forum with dropbox led me to give up and put them on OneDrive (which is much better at preview of thumbnails) so I could continue my family history writing. But I continued to use Dropbox as my backup solution and as needed for sharing. I'm again totally disappointed with the effort to backup my dropbox cloud to an external harddrive. I've read all the posts here and on Reddit about the best way to do this. You have to synch the files to your harddrive on the laptop and then copy them to the harddrive (making it a multi-step process). I think I would live with that if Dropbox worked consistently with making files offline. But I can select a folder and say make the files offline (ie on my laptop). Then when I try to copy those to the harddrive I often get errors. Only some of the files in the folders show up offline. Sometimes I have to repeat the procedure multiple times on a single folder to get the files offline. It is ridiculous that I can't select a dropbox folder and copy it to a hardrive and have dropbox dowload the files either directly to the external hardrive or to my laptop. I consider myself a fairly expert user of Dropbox (10+ years) and used to love it. Now I just tolerate it. PS I tried cloudmount but ran into some issues with that solution too.18Views1like4CommentsAfter a recent desktop app update, my files aren't syncing correctly

Hello, for several days I'm experience a syncing error with the Android app. Anything updated from the Android device appears on other connected devices, but not the other way around. Updated files from my home and work computers appear at dropbox.com but not in the Android app. I have restarted my phone several times and removed and reinstalled the Android app. The only way to get files to sync now is to logout and log back in, but I really shouldn't have to do that every time I want to update my to do list from my phone. Please help!Solved2.2KViews0likes36CommentsApp always updating thousands of files
Since a few weeks, my Dropbox app is always updating thousands of files, whenever my computer is started, taken out of sleep or hibernation. I think it started after I used Dropbox to briefly store a lot of small files on a secondary laptop. Searching on the internet, I have found more people with similar problems and I have tried some of the suggested solutions, but so far to no avail. This is on Windows 11, Dropbox plus subscription with selective sync enabled (my whole dropbox doesn't fit on the laptop). What I have done: remove and reinstall Dropbox; remove, delete dropbox cache folder, reboot laptop, reinstall Dropbox. At first the reinstall seemed to work but it didn't solve it permanently. Any other suggestions?Solved1.4KViews0likes27CommentsSelective Sync ('Do not upload' option) disappeared from Finder on Mac 14.7.1
So I've been using this option a ton before, like, when you work with a super large files and you don't need to upload them all while working on them, so there was on option in context menu "dont sync to dropbox" in finder, now it dissapeared? Is this bug or permanent now? Im on MACOS 14.7.1 and Dropbox v214.4.521773Views0likes6CommentsDropbox application not syncing with macOS Sequoia (mac mini pro)
Since chaning to a mac mini pro, dropbox has stopped syncing with the new device. Some files started to sync, but now after a couple of months most folders are unsynced and files unavailable locally unless I use the web interface. Sequoia 15.3 build 24D60 Dropbox Version 216.4.4420 (216.4.4420) The app states 'You don't have any sync issues' yet it also shows 104,333 files yet to sync78Views0likes10CommentsSyncing icons are missing from Dropbox folder in macOS Sequoia

I have just installed Dropbox on Fedora KDE 41 and logged in to my Dropbox account. I can put files in the Dropbox folder and they get uploaded. However, when I right click on the taskbar icon the top item in the menu is stuck on "Connecting...". There is no notifications of anything uploading or downloading so it is impossible to know if everything is working without logging into my Docker account on the web and checking. What should I be able to see in that menu instead of "Connecting..." and how do I fix it so I can keep an eye on what Dropbox is doing?246Views0likes11CommentsA bunch of my files went to Zero Bytes on Mac
This issue was posted here like five years ago by a different user and the fix worked for them but I've encountered the issue now and the fix isn't working. Basically, I've got a new Mac, synced all my files from my old Mac but they're mostly showing up as Zero Bytes and they're not openable. I tried going to my preferences->Account->holding down the alt/option key and clicking "Fix Permissions". It prompts me for my computer password, I enter it, it seems to work but doesn't. So I do it again, then I receive the error message in Dropbox: "Dropbox was unable to fix permissions in your Dropbox. Please contact support if the problem persists." I'm on the basic plan, so I don't have access to proper support (bad show, guys) so I'm hoping someone can help.41Views0likes6CommentsThe Dropbox desktop app is making multiple files offline after opening just one file on my computer
I started noticing that my space on my hard drive is slowing getting smaller, and just now I realized the culprit is the Dropbox app (PC). I noticed that after opening one PDF, all my files on my folder started going offline mode, I saw the Dropbox tray growing bigger and bigger from 10 files syncing to 200. How can I fix this? Yes, I already chose my folders on Selective Sync (and thank god, because other wise all of my folders would start to randomly download), I have the Save Hard drive Automatically thing ON already too, and the Default Sync state for new files to Online-only. I already tried uninstalling and installing again, but it keeps happening... help please28Views0likes3Comments
