Shared files in URLs not loading on Web (Chrome, Windows 11) but load fine on the phone

Hi all,

I've experiencing the following issue:

A friend of mine shared a .WAV file via link and when I click it the web browser loads, the page preview loads for a brief second and then an Error page shows. No specific explanation about the reason.

Error

Something went wrong. Don’t worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check out our Status Page to see if there is a known incident, our help center and forums for help, or head back to home.

* The same link will load just fine if I use my phone

* Dropbox loads fine if I go to the webpage (It's not restricted access since I have another maching with restricted access and then not even Dropbox will show)

* I'm observing this problem for a couple of weeks now, or maybe more

* Even though the file is .WAV, I cannot ipen other files as well, like PDF, even if I prepare the shareable link

* Tried deleting the cache, didn't help

* Opening the link in Microsoft Edge, loads it just fine.

So the issue seems to be specifically with Chrome?

Thanks in advance

Hi petarpavlov5, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Could you try using incognito/private browsing mode without any extensions running to see if something is prevent the Dropbox site from loading normally on Chrome?

Let me know how it goes!

      Hey Jay,

Yes, opening the link in Incognito worked fine.

Interesting, I don't have any new extensions installed recently.

It could be a recent update to an extension, or a built-in Chrome update that affected the site.

You can narrow this down by gradually enabling extensions in incognito mode, until the site stops working, to figure out which extension is causing this.
