Error message when deleting folders

I have used Dropbox for years and have never had this problem. I'm cleaning up my files and when I try to delete a folder I get this message:

There are too many files in one request. Please retry with fewer files.

What has changed? How do I go about deleting my folders?

  • Hi Everybody,

Thanks for your feedback here and for notifying us of this issue. The inability to bulk delete may have been a lingering effect of the earlier outage. It should be resolved at this time. Please let us know if that's not the case.

    Thanks,

    Ben

    Hi

I am clearing some files out of folders and Dropbox has started saying too may files to delete.  I then have to delete each file individually but still then won't let me delete the folder

Never had this before and it's only recently i.e today this has happened.  Is there a change somewhere or a fault online?

This is happening to me also. In addition, I can't copy folders or multiple files at once. Only one at a time!

I have had no problems until today and yes I have

    • restarted my computer
    • logged out and logged back in
    • refreshed the page
    • etc

In our organization when our filed are ready to print, we click on the folder, then the ellipses (the 3 dots) and click "MOVE" then then it will give us options on where to move it. I then chose the folder that I want and it just stays on "moving files" and never does. Can anyone assist on how to fix this issue? It's really slowing me down at work today.

I’m trying to delete some files but cannot (I used to be able to do so before).

In the ios app, after selecting delete, there is a loading icon but after it goes away, the files remain. On the website, when I try to delete a file I get an error message saying “couldn’t delete 1 item”.

I own these files, they are uploaded to my folder through my own dropbox app. Until Nov 1st I was able to delete these files so it seems something has changed on the dropbox side.

    Any help?

Rather mysteriously it has started working again. Looks like there was an outage?
