how to move a backup to regular dropbox?

so... by mistake i uploaded about 600gb of footage as a backup of my camera's card instead of as a normal dropbox folder. it took 2 days to complete. but now it's finished and i've realised it's not shareable... how do i move the backup to my normal dropbox folders so i can share with my client from there? seems stupid to re-upload (and to have to wait two more days!)

  • Hi Rory J., thanks for bringing this to our attention.

As externnl drive backups are completely separate from the normal Dropbox structure, you'd need to delete the backup first (to free up space on your account), and then upload the files to your account normally by moving them into the Dropbox folder.

well that's a pretty annoying system. dropbox used to be so simple and user friendly. all these additional "functions" aren't really thought out from a user's perspective.

        I agree!

Wouldn't it be super easy for you (Dropbox) to just put the backups in the same folder as the rest of the files?

        Cheers
