Dropbox Backup

I have set up a new computer. Downloaded the Dropbox desktop app, same as previous computer. I am running Office365. Now all Word documents that are stored in DP are showing corrupted. I can login to DP directly and open the document but when I try to open through my DP shortcut on file explorer. Word docs will not open directly. The solution has been to open the document from DP and then re-save it on the computer in DP. So I still have access to the docs but it's very inconvenient. Is there a solution that would allow my documents to all update at once and be available again from the file explorer shortcut?10Views0likes1CommentCan't delete files from an unlinked PC for Dropbox Backup
Hello, I have a backup of a PC I don't have access to anymore. When I try to delete files from it, I get a message saying that I have to unlink it under Setting -> Security. I went to the settings and deleted this computer (and all others) and I still get this message. When I got to https://www.dropbox.com/backup/allnext this pc I see the status as unlinked, but still cannot delete. What should I do in order to delete those files? Thanks245Views0likes8CommentsCan't delete my Dropbox Backup
Hi, I have a Backup set up for a PC that no longer exists. I cannot delete the backup. The help says to login, goto settings-security tab, select the device to log it out, so the backup can be deleted. The device does not exist in my list. The instructions make sense but there appears to be something wrong. If there is nothing wrong with what I am doing how do you contact support to get it fixed? Cheers, Garry2.5KViews0likes16CommentsCan't delete backups
I can't seem to get rid of the numerous backup shortcuts in my main dropbox folder. I have gone to the backup page, unlinked all devices and deleted backups through there, but there are still a bunch showing up in my main dropbox folder that I cannot hide, move, or delete. They all have a shortcut to the "New location", which just takes me to the backups folder that contains no files...It's majorly cluttering up my file org and driving me nuts. Any advice?111Views0likes1CommentDesktop files have disappeared from my Mac desktop, yet again - but visible in my Mac backup folder
This has happened to me many times, and each time I fixed it by laboriously looking for missing files on my Mac and restoring them from an attached backup drive. However, I don't have access to that drive at the moment. Fortunately, the files can be seen by navigating to the backups folder in the Dropbox web page. I saw some other postings about the backup no longer mirroring the files but rather copying them to a backup folder. This is fine with me - the old organization was confusing. But, how do I restore from the Dropbox BackUp folders to my empty Mac folders? If I navigate to the "Mac" folder under the dropbox in my Finder, the desktop folder is empty (well, it contains a test file I just made but all the former desktop files are gone.)108Views0likes1CommentMy Backup refuses to get deleted.
Hi! My account refuses to delete my backup with my backup files. I have several days now try to delete it but it keep coming back. How I tried to do it. Desktop app > Settings > Back ups > Handle Backups > Dropbox Backups > found my backup and press delete back up. I´ve also unlinked ALL devices. Every singel one. Dont think this matter but the back up is named a harddrive I use to have. So the files on that harddrive dont exist there and its unlinked. This is so annoying that it keep coming back becouse it takes up ALL my dropbox space. Do any of you have / had this problem? How did you solve it? Im not allowed to contact the support with my "plan" and the chat robot is kinda... the waaay opposite of chatgtp. So no luck or advice there. Best regards Benjamin125Views0likes1Comment
