Dropbox seems to be currently having some technical issues as per this thread.
In terms of the deletion Dropbox cannot do it on its own - it can only do what somebody tells it to do. But, its possible that you just moved the files to another location?
www.dropbox.com/events will help

nothing was moved. The files seemed to be there but I am informed they will be deleted. This another the problem to the dropbox webpage is totally unrepsonsive and I can not reach support to deal with this issue,
this the notice I received
Hi Dean,
You recently deleted 38892 files from your Dropbox account. If you want these files back, you can still restore them until 2024-08-06. After that, they’ll be permanently deleted.
These are the files you deleted:

If they are there then they are fine - if you can see at www.dropbox.com/home all is OK.
Deletion event emails can be caused by a move of files, or, a cut and paste depending upon things. Dont panic as long as they are at that page - once service issues are resolved you can check for sure 🙂
