Can I remove the owner of a shared folder?

I have a file in my Dropbox for my Mom that her old money manager is the admin on??

I have no idea how the folder got there?? He has been "let go" and I need to make sure he is not affiliated any longer with this file!!!
Any help out there??

If it's a shared folder and your mom is the owner of it, you can remove his access.

If he's the owner of the folder, then all you can do is move the content into a new folder that he doesn't have access to, and then leave the share. Note that if he is the owner, even if you remove the content he would still be able to recover it as the owner of the folder, but it would no longer be linked to your mom's copy in the new folder. The other option, if you still have contact with him and he's willing, is to ask him to transfer ownership of the folder to your mom, and then your mom can remove his access.
