Dropbox uploading 4kb duplicate photo files

Bit of a random one! I've used Dropbox for years without issues, but over the past week, I've been uploading hundreds of client photos, and for some reason, Dropbox is generating duplicate files. These duplicates are all 4KB in size, can't be previewed, and don't exist in the original folder I'm uploading from. They also don’t delete themselves after the upload.

It's not a major issue, but it slows down my workflow since I have to manually remove them before sharing the folder with clients.

Any idea what might be causing this?

    Hey Hannah,

Currently exporting edited images (.jpg) from Capture One, then uploading the folder through the Dropbox website, either dragging or pressing upload. I use Google Chrome.

Thanks for the additional info, Andrew!

Can you perhaps test if the same thing happens with unedited photos?

And do you see the same behavior when uploading from other browsers as well?

Hey AndrewClements, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community!

Can you let me know how you're uploading the original photos to your Dropbox account? Which Dropbox platform are you using?

Are you editing the original photos through some kind of third party app before uploading them to Dropbox?

Let me know and we'll go from there.
