How can I stop Dropbox from trying to sync all my files?

I've had Dropbox for backup of "standard" / particular for years but the automated services try to sync ALL my files resulting in using up my limits and pushing me to try to backup all files on the hard drives the desired backup files are stored.  How do I get Dropbox to "leave me alone", just accept the longstanding arrangement and not charge me for storage I am NOT using.

Hi RustyRiley, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Are you referring to the Dropbox Backup feature, or something else regarding the syncing of files?

Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!

One has to understand the context -- getting repeated messages that my dropbox is full with prompts to pay for more storage --- however, when I check I find I'm only using about half a gigabyte -- I thought the first, Basic Plan, was 2Gb and free -- so what's going on -- sure the files are on a hard drive with more on it, but I'm trying to keep a backup of only a part of that drive -- so what's up?!

Are you sure that you're checking the correct account? You've posted here using two different accounts, and each would be associated their own, separate Dropbox account. Make sure you're checking the correct account for the email that you received.
