Time Left in Sync has been removed from the desktop app
The dropbox menu bar app has stopped showing the time left in the current sync in the bottom of the window. It shows a seemingly irrelevant progress bar but even hovering over that does not tell me the time left to sync, which I have depended on to let clients know when files will be there. Hovering over only gives me the option to pause syncing. Was this feature removed or is this a bug in the latest update?
I'm on Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6

Hi everyone,I’m a member of the Dropbox desktop application team.First off, I’d like to thank you all for your feedback on this.Earlier this year, we removed the time to sync estimate from the Dropbox menu and replaced it with a progress bar as we believed it would be a better measure of true progress of your files syncing, rather than the time to sync estimates. That said - we’ve heard you! We have decided to bring back the time to sync estimate in an upcoming build of the Dropbox desktop application!Once this build is released, you should automatically see the time to sync estimate again. We will also update you here as soon as the version with the time estimate is available. We truly appreciate all of your feedback, it’s very important to us to make Dropbox work for our users. Thank you!Hi all,
I've checked with the team and this has been released to the current stable version v73.
It is available now for download, but your devices should also automatically be updated to this version soon.
Thanks once again for your patience and feedback!

Looks like Dropbox took out sync time. Hoping they realize they screwed up. Actively looking for a Dropbox replacement because of this feature removal!

I think that dropbox is not going to return the "time" function, or they are not in a hurry to do it. Therefore, a possible temporary solution can be like this: download the latest version of Dropbox, where "time" function still aviable. Then install it, and somehow block Dropbox from autoupdate. But I still can't find easy way how to do it. Maybe somebody knows?

I had a chat session with Customer Service yesterday where I begged "Hannah" to ask, or have her team leader ask, that someone from Engineering or at least with a voice of authority and understanding of the thinking of the lead teams on this, come here and speak on this. We've generated TEN PAGES of questions here and not ONE voice has spoken in favor of this feature's continued absence.
One thing that occurs to me is that Dropbox maintains some control over the speed of upload which at busy times may be a lot slower than people would prefer. The current policy nicely obscures that fact - when it's in, it's in and our only notice is that the desktop icon has turned white instead of blue (at least on MY desktop) or the number of items being synced has decreased. If an item that took an hour yesterday takes two today, it's less documentable that way. This would also explain the imperious nature of management not wanting to disclose this as a reason...perhaps it serves THEIR interests, not ours as subscribers.

I would also like to see the time remaining data return as a feature. It's incredibly inconvenient to have no clue what to tell clients when trying to make deadlines ,and it makes working with my collaborators difficult as well. How absurd it is that this feature was intentionally removed. I can't imagine it is in any way a service to the customers.

I want to add my voice to the chorus of disapproval about the removal of the time estimate. If it doesn't come back soon, I'll definitely need to consider whether or not I want to continute to pay for the service at all when important features that I use all the time are removed with no explanation. Very frustrating!

Would absolutely love to have this feature back - it seems absurd to me that the estimated time to sync feature has been removed (and no explanation).
Absolutely critical piece of info for my team and our workflow when sharing large video and photo files.
Been with dropbox for years but would have to leave for another company unless they turn it back on.

A deadline passed since my previous post, I would like to thank the Dropbox team for all the inconvenience that removing this feature caused us.
Still no official update? "Suprising".

Please bring back the estimated time to sync. I need to be able to tell clients when the files I upload will be available.

Another day uploading a large file for a client. Another day I hover my cursor over the Dropbox icon, then remember I can no longer give them an estimate of when it will arrive. As a freelancer who works from home I now look just that bit less professional. Clients love to hear 'I don't know'.

Ok, this is just S**T. I'm uploading files to send to a sick friend. Every 5 minutes I go back to look. No, not uploaded yet...5 minutes later...nope, not yet...5 minutes later...nope, not yet....5 minutes later...nope, not yet...
Do I have ANY VAGUE IDEA how long they will take? Nope
Thanks a F***IN heap to whoever made this RIDICULOUS decision.
Have Dropbox woken up to their appaling mistake yet?...nope, not yet.
