Can someone with a paid account share their storage space with me?
I have a client who has a paid subscription dropbox - I am using the free version can this client share his storage with me? he shares his file but since i reach the space my files are not syncing with his dropbox
Hi Rich thank you - and if he has 5GB he still can't shared that with me? or can he give me a different type of access? right now I have my own 2GB free subscription space but this storage was all used up by folders / documents he shared with me -so he can't give me some sort of access that would share his space with me? at the end, the only reason why i have this 2GB is to see his documents and im able to upload bank statements and he can see them on his dropbox

Hi from me as well, gd1235! I’m afraid this can’t be done; even if a user has more storage space than you and they’re sharing files/folders, they can’t grant you with more space from their own account to access them (you will need to acquire that space for your Dropbox account in a different way, either by upgrading it or by receiving more space via referrals).
However, there may be another workaround you can use in this scenario. If you just want to view their files, they can send you a shared link instead, which won’t affect your Dropbox space (unless you add the files to your account).
If you want to upload files to their Dropbox account after that, they can send you a separate file request instead, which won’t require any Dropbox storage from you either.
Hi Nancy Thank you very much - so for each file that I need to upload to his dropbox he will send me a single file request? so for example i need to upload each month his bank statements so even tho this upload it is to HIS DROPBOX that I have access as an editor - this uploading uses my storage
Thank you roga41 - so if he shared with me his dropbox but he is the owner and I am the editor and I delete folders from the dropbox to free up space will that folder delete from his dropbox as well?

If you delete files or folders from within the shared folder, yes, they will be deleted from his Dropbox as well.
Hi Mark thank you for your reply - he added me to his dropbox as a CAN EDIT* - he also told me he is only in the free version as well of the 2GB what we need to do for us to be able to get the folders synced? I have access to his dropbox but since now my 2GB capacity is full whatever I add in his dropbox offline it doesn't sync in his end

Hi gd1235, if your account is overquota, any edits or new files added into your Dropbox folder won't sync to your account online, meaning they won't sync to that other user via the shared folder.
In order to sync files, you'll need to free up quota on your account, use referrals to earn quota, or upgrade your plan in order to get more quota.

No. His space does not benefit you at all.
If you have 2gb of free space that's all you can sync from his account. If his shared folder is bigger than that you cannot sync anything/it would stop.
If you need read only access ask for read only links instead.
