Incorrect dropbox space usage on windows
Hi Guys,
My local Windows Dropbox is fully synced with my online Dropbox. Windows Explorer file/properties shows my Dropbox folder is 576 MB but to my surprise, dropbox.com and dropbox app bot...

We can confirm that the most recent releases of Dropbox should have resolved this issue. Users affected by this issue were unable to see all of the backups on their account. This meant that when they believe they deleted some or all of their files, there could still be backups taking up space on their account. This should no longer be affecting users who should be able to see all of their backups.
You can find out deleted information on disabling and deleting backups below:
If you disable the backup and choose to "Leave content in Dropbox", your backup content would still be there until it was permanently deleted.
When you go to the Backups page and see no content, be sure to check the deleted section, too.
You can download the files from this location if you need to store them locally on your device.
To clear out the data from the deleted backup, follow these steps:- Navigate to
dropbox.com/backup/all
- Click on
Show deleted backups
- Select their backup and click on
permanently delete
Some users did not have backups, but they were members of shared folders which were taking up space on their accounts. You can remove shared folders using these instructions.
If you are still experiencing quota issues after following these steps, then confirm that we can reach out to you via email and our support agents will look into this with you. - Navigate to

I recently purchased a new computer and used Dropbox to transfer my files from the old computer to the new computer. I did a temporary plan upgrade so I could move the large number of files. Once everything was moved, I downgraded back to the basic free plan. The only things still in my Dropbox are the files that were already there before all of this process began. However, it is saying that I am using 474 GB of storage, so it is locked down and won't sync anymore. The large transfer folders I used for the move are deleted. The deleted files folder is empty. All backups have been deleted, but when I go to my Manage Account page it is still showing that there is 472.2GB being used in Backups, as well as my original 2.6GB used in Regular Files . I don't know what else to do to get things back like they were before this process began, and I have important files that I need to be able to sync.
Also, it says I only have 2GB of storage space in my account now, but I had more than that before doing this trial. How can I get this fixed and get my account back to how it was a month ago???

You're certain there are no backups showing on the Backup page?

Yes, it said "there are no files here." I looked again and there was a button that said something like hide folders with issues. I clicked on that and all the backups that I had deleted were in there and I had to tell it to delete them again. Why would my command to delete make it just hide them? So frustrating. Thank you for suggesting I look again.
