My space isn't being freed up after deleting files

When I bought a new laptop I was offered additional Dropbox storage space for a year. The offer is about to expire and I can’t afford to pay for the additional space. I have deleted the files that would take me down below the 2GB basic space allowance. This includes what was in Backup, but the amount of space my account says I am using hasn’t got down. What could happening?

  • Thanks so much Jay for your reply!  After I received it I went back to the Back up area and although it looked as if what I had deleted/moved out wasn’t there, in reality all the deleted/moved files were hidden. I then found the box where on can select ‘Delete permanently’. Once I did that the storage space was restored. It was very confusing and puzzling because I couldn’t find any guidance that would have taken me there, but I am glad it is all sorted!
    thanks again for your help!

Hi BCP1, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Are you certain that you have no shared folders or backups on your account that could be taking up any quota?

Could you check this page and let me know the breakdown of the quota?

This will help me to assist further!
