Some files were shared with me by another user and now I'm over-quota. What is happening?

Super User III cannot for the life of me figure out what's going on because I have not added anything to my personal account.
There upgraded account doesnt benefit you. If you need access to that data in your account you need enough space in your account to access it.
Does this mean the files in the other person's box will be deleted because I am among those it was shared with, or the one who added some?
Anything in your Dropbox may be deleted if you are over quota - and anything that happens to those files will replicate to all in the share.
Best thing to do is leave the share via www.dropbox.com/share and ask for read only links instead as they dont use quota BUT it does mean you cannot edit the real time files.
