Storage disappeared after free trial

My account is using just over 5 GB and has been that way more or less for at least the past  5 years without any trouble. I'm not sure what my total capacity was but I had lots of space available. Since I allowed the free trial of Dropbox Plus, and I didn't pay to continue it, my total storage has dropped down to 2 GB so I am 3 GB over. I did not change anything from my end but Dropbox has reduced my storage for no reason that I can see.

Hey StudioduVerre, thanks for posting here!

Upgrading, or downgrading your account wouldn't take away your referrals in any case.

Is it possible that you were using a deal or promo that has since expired? In any case, the best thing would be for you to remove some content in order to bring your account below the allocated space, see how you can earn more space or upgrade your account.

    I hope this clarifies!

The event history goes back to April of this year and, aside from my own addition and deletion of files, there are two events by Dropbox. One where they increased the quota to 2 TB and one where they dropped it down to 2.5 GB.
The only thing under referral status is the original note from when the account was opened in 2016.
